e30 316 coupe 134k help!!!

I have just bought a 316 coupe for £50 from a friend at work. The car has been sat for 4 years doing nothing and has 134k on the clock. Im just wondering if it is worth getting it back on the road. I should think it needs new brakes at least. Not much rust on it all. The colour is a quite a rare colour, I have never seen another one. Its a light/sky blue. How easy is it to get parts and could you provide me with links etc or people you know who break/sell parts for these cars. I'm looking forward to a summer of 'tinkering' with the car. Is there things I need to be aware of with this car/engine.gearbox etc. Thanks for your help. I am in Witney oxfordshire so breakers close by would be good.

Steve

Yeah sills are fine, the spare wheel well is fine as are arches etc. Engine mounts and shock mounts all good also. It does look like it was looked after prior to being stood for 4 years. Will get some pictures on over the weekend.

Pictures coming later today. Car has been parked on an RAF camp for 4 years. Can I drive it home from an mot station legally with no tax/mot?

You can drive it home (or to a place of repair) from a (failed) MOT without tax and MOT, but it must be insured, and not have been declared unroadworthy by the MOT tester.

Bit of info. has done 145k not 134k. Car was bought in Germany by Forces personnel but to British spec. Have the original sales invoice though it is very tatty. Car starts and runs. Interior needs sorting, needs new glove box and drivers seat is quite worn otherwise just needs hugh clean!!!

My 325i Touring has the fader switch; although it looks like a left/right one mine definitely fades the sound front/rear...

That's an interesting colour btw

Looks like a sound shell, bring on the 2.7!! Buy BMW only bits via zimmerbimmer in the zone parts dept. It takes no longer for him to deliver at a discounted price than it does to order via your local dealer.

Yeah front has faded a little but seems to wipe off if that makes sense. I'm sure a few polishes would bring it up. So has anyone seen this colour?

The colour will be on a label on the LH front suspension turret.

Was going to say - your best bet is to get it running, check the tyres are inflated, the brakes work, the lights, horn and wipers work and take it along to your local MOT station. If it passes then you've answered your question as to weather it'll go back on the road or not. If it fails, look at how long the fail sheet is, if it's all do-able stuff then just work your way down the list and away you go :)

Sounds daft to stick a car in for MOT that was only £50 but my mate bought a Lancia Y10 for £15, put it through the MOT and it passed straight away. On the way home it snapped it's handbrake cable but that's not the end of the world!

Love the colour but probably an impossibility to spray just a couple of panels & get it to match.

Ok i am moving as I have been posted to a different station (I'm in RAF) so the car is FOR SALE. PLEASE feel free to phone me with sensible offers. I have fitted new pads and cleaned the discs and calipers and the interior is pretty clean, glovebox needs fixing as does bonnet release catch. It does start and run but need a new battery and some fuel!!!!! Colour I have been told should buff up quite well with an electric buffer thing?? Is that right?? VERY RARE COLOUR. So any offers or the car will be going on ebay at the weekend 31st or 1st June. My number is 07856000618

ADMIN people? Could you please move this feed to sales section?? I'm not sure how I do it/can do it so could you do that for me??
