Scorpion exhaust users. (It's here now)

Im just on the verge of buying a scorpion system for the turd, My magnex system that is on there has a blow in it and has never been right since I was mugged off with it.
I am just a little curious as to how people find the reliability of them now, I know there used to be a problem with the internals failing but I seem to remember Sal saying that issue had been sorted?
Also does anyone know if they will change the tailpipes for another design, My catalogue only lists DTM and Le mans, I really wanted the STW tips as E30adam has.
Ta muchly
**disappears off to plod up his current exhaust**

I've had my Scorpion full system for over 6 months, and so far I'm well pleased with it

. Only downside is long journeys get a little tiresome cos it's pretty loud, but if you've got a decent stereo, it shouldn't be a problem
I went for the straight cut STW tailpipes... I like them cos they arent flashy looking, just 2x65mm pipes making lots of rude noises

They were ok with doing the STW pipes? This is looking like I may be ordering sooner rather than later.

I bought mine through Evolve, or whatever they were called back then... No problem in supplying the STW pipes, I think Scorpion has started producing these on a large scale now for e30's (best ask Sal tho, cos he's in the know

)

i have a full system on mine, but the middle box has lost all it's baffles and now it sounds really crap

but it is old now. The rest of the system is fine, even the dtm backbox.
I'm going back to standard, with Le mans back box,as i heard one the other day which sounded lovely!

Scorpions only sound good when the centre box is hollow. They fit very well and are built nicely, even if the baffles go in the centre box but thats a good thing!

Ahh Mr 13. Just the man I wanted to post.
So You would say it's worth buying? It won't cost me the RRP price either

Heard a 320i with a Scorpion system on it. Sounded pretty good, without being excessive. Especially in a cab!!

I have a Scorpion. Sounds good but can get too loud. Especially when parking up in the early morning!

I had a scorpion on my last Sport. Thought it was great. Not too loud even when cruising I thought, and it took on a lovely roar once passed 4200 rpm.

back boxes make no difference really to the sound on M20's it's all fron the centre box, so if you want that scorpion wail it's full system time
When the alpina is revived it shall be sporting the Racing Dynamics manifold, my hollow centre box (it rings when you tap it

) and a nice STW back box to match.
Shall sound just the like old GUG engine which will be perfect for me!
You'll like it. My advice is get a 6 branch too when the time comes, a Magnex if you can find one is good. BTB is a bit to high pitched for my liking

So basically there is no reason not to buy one
All I have to do now is persuade my boss that it is a good idea.

Got a Scorpion system on the back of my M50, back box was 18 months old but the centre was brand new, its done 50,000 odd miles now and sounds just as good as it did from the start. 24 valves help the sound no end
Mate of mine had one on his 325i with a duff centre and it did my head in, it actually made my head hurt it was that horrible

I changed from a magnex back box to a scorpion back box and the difference was minimal but with the scorpion centre box the car gives a lovely roar when you put your foot down, doesn't seem too loud to me as it is the smooth 6 pot sound and not a hollow tinny sound you get from 4 pots

Slightly biased squire?
I will be ordering direct from Ikon/motech what ever they are called this week as we deal with them at my work. Which means I won't be paying retail for it
Will this be an issue to get the STW pipes do you know? I gather I will get hit with a surcharge?

i know it is council and not my style, BUT i have a full scorpion system on my run around and it is the nuts, going to use it with my next 2.7

I don't think anyone other than ourselves supplied the STW tail pipes. I might be wrong - you better enquire with Ikon.
The Alpina has a full scorpion fitted with STW tailpipes. Perfect fit which is unusual for an aftermarket E30 exhaust.
Can get a little loud at around 4000rpm but it's not that loud (yet).
They sound fantastic with a BTB or RD 6 branch.
