Took my iS out for a drive today, been in storage for 2 weeks.
Got up the road and it was running lumpy upto 4000 rpm so i thought it just needed a drive, also it was giving off some nasty blue smoke and some random smells.
Got it over to work and took the plugs out and gave them a clean, Plug number 1 was very black and oily. I gave them a clean and then took it for a spin. It drove ok but still running nasty, so i turned around and headed back.
Pulled out of a side road then suddenly it make some awful noises along with alot of blue smoke coming from the engine bay and exhaust! Jumped out to investigate and it has got a rather large hole in the bottom end, there was engine parts all over the road with loads of oil everywhere.

Sorry to hear this Mike.
Yes, 6-pot should be the way forward, unless you want to stay 4-pot ? If you do, then you can have that 1.8 engine and gearbox back.
Of course, I'll keep the rest to myself

Dont really want to stay 4 pot, Need 6 pot power and noise.
Cheers for the engine offer but im not to keen on the m40 into an iS
Hopefully it will be back on the road soon, E30s never die.
Cheers

Blimey Mike, that looks awful mate...all with no indication too ?!?!?
Good luck with sorting it out - personally I would stick another four pot in it especially as it is such a nice clean iS.
Then flog it and get a real man's car instead if you want a six pot...

Ill give you five quid and a lesson on car maintenance for it!
Usually when you smell odd smells and see smoke you stop and check it out not drive to destruction!
Oh well if you put a six pot in at least you'll have six rods to punch out!

Comforting words max considering he's just blown his engine, i'm sure thats why he opened the thread to be slatted by...someone with 1 post.
If it did that, stopping for a bit to check stuff out would have hardly stopped the inevitable happening, sympathy would be more useful rather then critisism i think.
Anyhow mike good luck with what you choose, you will like the torque of a 2.5!

Nice first post, For you information i only drove the car a couple of miles up the road to my work where i could check to see what the problem was.
Your right about the 6 pot thou, i could punch 6 out, your good at maths
Anyway its easy to slate people on a forum and give over abuse and you probably would not say it to somebodys face.
Mike
P.s Ill take the fiver thou
