Don't worry about MPG if you have a325i,It won't get driven "sensibly" too often
thanks mate, do you know anything about the 318is mpg? any ideas of the bhp of them both too? basically i wanna be able to drive around without having to stop off at the petrol station too many times and also be able to beat those scums that stare at me when stopped at red traffic lights!
Think the e30 318is is about 140bhp (approx) 4 pot, 325is is about 175bhp 6 pot, could be slightly more, need mine roll roaded to know mine! get a 325ise or a sport, done a 197 bhp civic type r, twiceMusashi wrote:thanks mate, do you know anything about the 318is mpg? any ideas of the bhp of them both too? basically i wanna be able to drive around without having to stop off at the petrol station too many times and also be able to beat those scums that stare at me when stopped at red traffic lights!

Loads and loads and loads of threads on this, try the search function. From top of my head - 4pots - low 30s & 6 pots high 20s if you're driving them sensibly round town.
318is 136bhp?
325i 175bhp
But the older threads have more definite info.

I'm currently getting 20MPG. (40 litres of fuel - 180 miles covered - fuel cost 101.9p. Made up of around 120 miles motorway and the rest around town.)
However when it was colder a few weeks ago and I was only doing short start-stop journeys i was getting 13Mpg
Although that involved being parked with the engine started more than in motion,
My car was alot better when i first got it so i think it's probably due a service.

I average just about 20mpg, but when it is cold the mpg drop maybe due to the higher idle speeds?!? Its not hard to get over 20 mpg in 325i but i have never got close to 30mpg. The best way to get good consistent mileage is the cruise control.

My 318is averaged 34-35 on a 400 mile run to Fife, but OBC said 32.6. I came back quicker and it still averaged 30, OBC said 28.6.
My 325i touring averages 25 driven sensibly. dunno on a run.
The M3 returns similar to the 318is if not better, but then I've remapped that one

When i had my 2.5 sport a tenner would get approx 50/60 miles - driving town and motorway
When i had my 318iS a tenner would get approx 70+ miles - driving town and motorway.
Then again i haven't really got a lead foot and prices were cheaper back then for petrol!! Just depends on how you drive.

A tenner for 70miles?! bring back those days plz!
Have you all heard about the consumer strike on Esso and BP? there has been an e-mail going round to suggest to everyone to stop filling up at those two stations untill they lower their prices! apparently the buyer is in control not the seller for petrol prices.
I only go to BP to fill up my tyres which is the only place where you dont have to pay to do it!
