It's a personal thing. I was never impressed with the BMW sports seats, they were sooooo uncomfortable.
Fitting the RST seats was the best mod I've done to my Touring! It's like a different car.

RS Turbo recaros are the dogs balls! Primarily because they weren't made by ford. If they had been, they'd have rusted away, then exploded by now

gotta admit, i had a mondeo with the 'sporty' trim, the seats were amazing, same design as the old recaros but by FORD.
they hugged you so tight my fat friends had to sit in the back

Strangely, Wor Lass doesn't have a problem with the Recaro's. I thought she would because she's so biiiiig.

OK, I've been working on this for a while now.
I have 2 pairs of Recaro's - 1 pair of RST ones and a pair of Sapphire Cosworth's.
The RST ones will virtually fit straight in the E30 - you just need to fabricate L-shaped brackets to adapt the front mounts. However.....
If you're 5ft10 or above, your head will be jammed against the headlining if your E30 has a sunroof. You can get 'round this by removing the legs from the RST runners and use 5mm thick steel plate 60mm wide welded to the runners and drilled to match the E30 bolts and studs. This will have the seats roughly the same height as the E30 seats are at their lowest setting.
The Cosworth seat bases are different in that.....
1) The runners (with the legs attached) are nowhere near to fitting the original E30 holes/studs.
2) The mounting bolts are nearer to the width of the E30 runners.
3) The bases are actually shallower than the RST ones (ie the seats will sit lower on any mounts) by 50mm at the front and 25mm at the rear. The angle involved is a slight pain, but not an insurmountable problem.
4) The Cosworth drivers seat has a height adjustable frame. If you used this the seat would be higher than the RST one even at its lowest setting. Obviously this won't be any good at all in the E30.
So what I'm working on now is how to adapt the E30 runners to get the Cosworth seats to fit. What I'm aiming at is being able to use the proper E30 seatbelt mounts and getting the Recaros at the right sort of height.
Hopefully the weather will improve in the next few weeks and I can get outside with runners, seat base and adaptors (while I'm waiting for the Cosworth seats to come back from being re-trimmed).
I'll get some pic's while I'm doing it. ...... And I'll take some of the different seats so you can see what I'm on about here.

Cheers guys. i love them, the only argument im having with mine is the front sits higher than the back and i dont have massive long legs so it can be a little uncomfortable pressing the clutch at times. i cut the front mounts down slightly and redrilled the holes and its a bit better. but not perfect. im probably gonna cut weld and drill my own custom subframes for them at some point. soon as i fix the fucking welder.

Nah. these seats are lovely and comfy, been retrimmed very very very well in a lovely supple feeling leather. look the canine undercarriage. and i already have them so they are free.
oh and are so supporting. why would i wanna pay BMW money for another set of seats i would just have to spend more money on to get right? plus if i make my own subframes i get them spot on where is comfy for me.

I've spent a bit of time having another look at this over the last couple of days. It's looking more and more like Sierra or Sapphire Cosworth seats are the ones to have in an E30. All they are going to need is a pair of L-shaped brackets and some short legs and they will fit onto the E30 runners - no messing trying to fabricate seatbelt mounts.
