5th year of E30 ownership and still happy!

As the title suggests, I'm well into my 5th year of ownership and my touring has given me trouble-free motoring (fingers crossed) and always been reliable during this period. :D

The only repair needed in all this time was a slave cylinder.

She had 4 new Pirelli tyres in 2005 and a new battery in 2007.

The only other costs were for servicing by moi and a few sublte mods also mainly by moi.

How long have you owned your E30 for, and has it been a more or less financially painless ownership (barring mods, of course ;) )

I've had my current 320i for 2 years and apart from servicing, tyres and a new exhaust (the original lasted 18 years) its cost me nothing.

MOT on monday and I expect it to pass with flying colours.

I've had mine for 9 months.

Its gone through two engines, nearly three.

A diff, a prop, a handful of suspension springs, a sprinkling of alternator belts, 4 rear top mounts, a smattering of bushes, 4 sets of alloys, one set of steels, god knows how many tyres... I think thats it..

Christ you have been lucky i have always (last ten years) found e30 ownership expensive perhaps because i am picky about having everything right on my cars they have always been reliable though. I concur with you that these cars are unusual in that you don't seem to get bored with them.

4 months but wanted one since I was 12 (now 21). I have a 70k miles 1988 320i. Mechanically its in excellent condition and is very very tidy (interior and exterior). Its rust free.

I've had a new cambelt and service.

i have had a few little annoying problems though, such as 2 water leaks (not due to rust), blown dash light bulb, fog light blanking cover has fallen off and the central locking has just started to play up. All smallish things that have been or can be fixed, but its very annoying especailly with the amount of care I put into looking after it

in saying that for the money spent there is no other car i would rather

Cheers

pnd, hope I've not jinxed myself by singing my touring's praises...lol

Cotty, see you were offered a free hoover and so on by the BMW dealership; I'm sure you took it. I think it's the least they can do the amount they charge people.
