I have just purchased a Cosworth powered E30!

I have just purchased an BMW e30 with a stage three Cosworth engine fitted —a 360bhp!

This is a truly brilliant car —a very nippy to say the least.

Questions:
1. Can I fit an electronic boost controller? I always had one fitted in my skyline and it was nice because if a friend/ girlfriend were driving the car I could set the boost to a more sensible value. This would not cause problems with the mapping?
2. Does the header tank need to have a cap which releases pressure as a specific value? Many of the ones on e-bay seem not to have pressure release valves.
3. I have no rev gauge, one wan never fitted. What kit do I need to buy to make this work? —a It has a Cosworth gearbox fitted.

Parts needed:
1. Rear seats for a 3 door
2. Front and rear seat belts —a complete with all fittings and fixings
3. Glove box assembly
4. Mechanism for securing spare wheel.
5. Boot carpet.

Very Nice Buy!

I had a 360 bhp saff Cossy up till April last year,

Ran constant 12s at the Pod best being 12.63secs

I converted it from 4x4 to 2wd for more sideways fun

So I can only guess how quick that is in a light E30 :D

ANYWAY I have seat belts with everything and boot carpet for sale!

Belts £25 and Carpet £5!! :D

Cheers Guys, the 1/4 time was 12.9 seconds with 18' rims - the problem is getting the power down. Will get some pics up soon.

Well done!
I only saw the car on pistonheads this evening and was going to call the guy tomorrow but i guess there is no point now

I wouldn't bother with an electronic boost controller on the yb personaly but a quick, easy and cheap way of regulating the boost would be to put a switch into the amal valve wiring to give you a high/low boost setting.
This is assuming it is running the amal valve?

The trigger wire for the rev counter on the cossie engine loom is green and should be easy enough to splice into the wiring for the original e30 tacho.

You will definatly need the correct pressure cap for the header tank.
Which h/t is it using? Is it a bayonet fitting cap or threaded??

I have most if not all of the bits you require as well and if you need any advice re the YB give me a shout.

Spadge...

Wrong. In so many ways!

why does it have the restrictor on the turbo inlet? my old turbo used to be a .63 housing with a 34mm restrictor but boost wasnt coming in until over 2500rpm. i changed to a stage 2 t34 with .48 housing after turbo specialists recommendations and the boost now comes in at 1400rpm. much more useable .

Apparently the turbo is out of a race car and the restrictor has been skimmed out. Do you know where I need to connect the green wire on the back of the rev counter? The dials are out of a 4 pot so should be ok.

What 1/4 times have you run fuzzy? Can't wait to go heads up with my mates 410hp skyline! :D
