Please don't use text speak old chap. Lowers the tone you know, plus us old fellas don't like it.
Back to the subject.. I am not to sure if it was coming through the streering?? why what does it mean it was?? The only possible ideas i have come up with are...
1 To get a strut brace!
2 To tighten the screws
3 or To get my tracking re-done
do you think theres anyfing else???

I use to have this problem, lots of vibrations though the steering wheel, dash and the whole car in general at certain speeds, especially over 70mph. After replacing the suspension with a H&R cup kit and poly bushes all round, new discs/pads, tyres and a new O/S/R calliper (old one was sticking) etc, the problem has now gone and drives like a new car. I would say it is definately worthwhile replacing the bushes.
BMWSPORT you got ne idea how much the following replacments of bushes etc put you back by? £Â£ (i think 1 of ma calipers are sticking to as i can hear a clicking sound wen driving at very slow speed.. basically rollin speed)

I got the H&R cup kit from the zone shop.
You can either get a 35mm all round or 60/40mm. I went for the 35mm drop as I think it looks the best out of the two and is also practical for todays roads (i like my sump!)

I also got the poly bush kit from the zone shop too.

Some say they prefere the OEM bushes to the polly's but personally i think they are fantastic and have completely changed the handling of the car. Much more tighter and responsive.
I too had a same clicking sound as you. Firstly check the temperature of the front discs after a drive, if one is hotter than the other jack the car up and rotate the wheel, if it is stiff to turn and/or has excessive pad wear you'll more than likely need a replacement calliper. An already refurbished calliper cost me about £60 but you can do the job yourself and save a few quid.

Definitely get all four wheels aligned and balanced. I had a vibration through the steering in another car at 80-85 and after I'd had the fronts done twice I went for all four wheels and it was sorted.
What wheels have you got?

Stick a set of balanced 15" BBS on it and a) You'll be rid of the vibration, and b) You'll find out how an E30 should handle.
I agree its the alps i get the same problem...i can power through a 55mph vibration but at 85 its ridiculous. Though im a sucker for the big rim look... i tend to agree with brian, to get the best out of the car do the above. I'll go the same way once i learn my lesson... but not yet

E30´s dont like oversize wheels, especially those copy alpina things that have dual fit and if youve got cheap wheels on spacers forget it.

Look nice they might, but they don't centre properly and are ridiculously heavy. (Unsprung weight)rwikky wrote:You people being serious?? BUT THEY LOOK NICE THOUGH!!
When I bought my car it had 17"alpina reps. It vibrated violently at 80mph. I later found that there were no spigot rings fitted. After putting some on the car was miles better but still not fully sorted though. I had to get rid of them in the end.

Shouldn't that be unsprung mass?Brianmoooore wrote:Look nice they might, but they don't centre properly and are ridiculously heavy. (Unsprung weight)rwikky wrote:You people being serious?? BUT THEY LOOK NICE THOUGH!!

Sad but true mate... there are people who have been lucky with 17" alps but most seem to get the wobble... I put my old bottle tops back on just to check and with out changing anything the wobble was gone. (i can't stand bottletops!!)
