I have an E30 325I convertible which i was told is a Motorsport.
It has all the motorsport bits (interior, s/wheel, badge, etc). BMW info say its a 325i Macao blue with m-tec accessories, m-tec sports suspension and blue elec powerhood. Does this make it a gen Motorsport?

A proper motorsport convertible will have code 796 Motorsport Edition on the spec print out from the dealer. The link that aceraf posted only had picture of the 2nd and 3rd run of motorsport convertibles which have tech2 body kits as standard. The first run were metal bumper cars with no body kit as standard but the tech 1 kit was optional. These came in macau or nagaro silver only. They also have different interiors to the 2nd and 3rd runs. 1st runs have silver/grey leather with the M stripe (blue, purple and red) stiched in the corner of the seat.

Then it looks like you have a 1st version of the motorsport convertibles but to make sure give the last seven digits of the chasis number to any bmw dealer and as for a spec print out. If it has code 796 Motorsport Edition then it will 100% be one.

By the way i've seen the thread on the damage and its a very easy repair as beardymat has said, deff worth doing.

Hi guys,
I have a 1989 E30 motorsport convertible on a G reg, registration date 02/08/1989, build date Jul 1989 (wk27), colour is 250 Macao Blue with 0319 Silver Leather

796 1989 motorsport edition
393 Blue Hood electric 200 Delete Catalysor
201 E H Automatic Gear Box 288 Cross spoke alloys 7jx15
301 Anti-Theft Lock 339 De-Chroming
350 Green tinted glass 354 Graduated tinted screen
380 Hard top preparation 500 Head light wash wipe
551 On board computer 704 M Technic sports suspension
708 M technic steering wheel 812 GB specification

My car has the same gray leather interior with the blue purple red stripes as planlondons it also M-Tec 1 front and rear bumbers and boot spoiler.

Im restoring the car to its original state but Ive been told that my car would have originally came with M-tec 2 front and rear bumpers as it was a run out of the pre face lift and an introduction of the face lift ! Im confused, i want to get the car right but don't know what to do ?...
Any Help Welcome....

Gazzas right - early ones came with grey leather and either no bodykit or the M tech 1 kit. If its the later model (usually G or H reg) it will have an M tech II kit, it should have bubble leather and come in Sebring Grey or Macau Blue with Dark Grey (Nogaro) BBS alloys.

If it is the last ones made with the face lift/later rear lights (h, j or k reg) - it will be either in Calypso Red or Mauritius Blue with White Lotus Leather and the DArk Grey BBS.

I think all also come with the leather diagonal stitching on the door cards - but a seasoned zoner may be able to confirm - but the best way is to check with BMW for the prrintout as there are many wannabes/replicas out there....

Yes all motorsport convertibles had full stitched leather door panels and centre consols.
