Other drivers reaction to E30s

Because of work commitments and carp weather, yesterday was the first time I have taken the 325i in my avatar out for a good spin for about a month. Took the top down too!

I couldn't believe the difference in driver reaction towards me compared to my everyday car (E34 525i touring) and it's predecessor (E36 316i) . Other drivers seemed desperate to overtake, want to race at lights and drive aggressively around me.
Anyone else notice any thing like this?

I've found nobody lets you out or gives way and everyone will try to overtake or race you.
TBH I think it's purely a BMW thing, 99% of people seem to have nothing good to say about BMW owners.

I get that too.
Must be something to do with the 'L' plates though.

The strange thing is the big difference in other driver reactions, considering both cars have the same badge.

Strange that, i get exactly the opposite reaction. Especially in the summer with top down.
Might be because its a chromie though, Usually find other drivers very curteous towards it, especially but not only older drivers. Think the pitbull and the AK47 on the back seat does tend to help.

tbh, I don't get much of a reaction at all. Maybe its a touring thing. Everyone stays pretty neutral apart from the odd saxo/nova racer who gets put back in his place.

seems to be like my average drive, apart from im normally trying to overtake people etc
and also try being 18 and driving a bmw, no one seems to let you out or anything.

I get that in the BM too, though when driving my 1978 Alfa gtv, everyone and their dogs let me out.

Ive had no real problems with people let me out of junctions or anything.
If anything people seem to generally show interest for both the tech 1 i had and my SE although do get people trying to race now and then.

I get stalked by Punto's and 106's full of kids with baseball caps on all the time.

Seem eager to touch my rear bumper.
Little do they realise that I can't race much in a 318i.. Just wait till I get old enough and stupid enough to own a 325i.
Get a few compliments when I'm parking here and there.. Depends whether my car is actually working though.

I rarely get anything, if at all...
A nod from a '02 owner on Sunday, and two weeks prior to that a E24 633CSi owner waved...his was mint...gotta love Kalifornia for nearly complete rust-free ness....and top down action....
...'cept I drive a coupe...

I get a reasonable reaction in the cab, people seem genuinely pleased to see it running ...
The iS must have a big magnet on the back which attracts small black cars ...
The touring is gone before the competition realises what's going on

it has to be said most people think they're just rusty old square shitters (which some are) but generally get good vibes from bmw drivers and some intelligent porsche drivers too
its the jap car drivers that dont know anything ( not including the drift scene though-they love e30s) one skyline r33 gtr i waspulling away from was very confused afterwards, and saiod he was initially wondering why a shitbox like that was trying to and pulling away from his skyline.

I just get c**ts sitting in my way when there is plenty of room in the slow lane for all the inferior cars.....
And the tech 2 doesnt seem to attrack to many chavs...

The wife is in my Msport at the minute.
Her E39 is off the road and she has noticed a big difference.
Salesmen wanting to race thinking its slow, people not letting her out.
Petrol station lads wanting to buy the car.

I've had people talk to me in petrol stations and car parks loooaads of times, asking me about the car.
A while back I was stopped in trafic and there were three yoofs in a Corsa next to me.
One of the lads leaned out and shouted "OLD SKOOL COOL, RECOGNISE!"
So in my experience it gets a fair bit of respect!
I don't get let out of junctions like I did in my bright yellow RX7 though!

Compared to driving the other cars, I'd say I get a pretty good reaction on the road in the 320.
Though the other cars are a Metro and an Espace. Quite how people manage to miss an ugly great green Espace hurtling towards them when they pull out of junctions in front of us I'll never know. Maybe they think I'm a bush of some description?

Now this is a long shot, but your RX7,was it a MK1 "concept" one?

Nah, Mk3 (FD) twin turbo.
I saw a mk1 a few weeks ago, looked great!

Ah,I just wondered as I used to knock about in MK1 Concept RX7 finished in bright yellow.
Was dead cool, straight through pipes which would send out flames
And it had a Ferrari steering wheel, whilst had no effect on performance or value, felt cool having the Prancing Horse in front of me!
Wasn't a fast car,but boy it felt like it!
And drank a frightening amount of fuel

My dad had TWO () Renault Espakas back in the day. The best thing about it was the fridge between the front seats and the tables on the back

Plenty of biro's f*cking about on the roads in Manchester
Im sure I saw your cab traveling north on the Chester road last week at about 2pm
Back on topic

- most in the know compliment the car, but most in the likes of brand new X5's / RangeRovers with NOB 1 or whatever for a number plate just tend to look down at me as they think to themselves "shoo you peasant" while I undertake them

I seem to get let out at junctions easily enough, especially by trucks come to think of it.
Get the odd few Civics and Corsas annoying me hugging my wing mirror.
Got stuck in the middle lane between a Suzuki Swift and GT-Turbo once
Swift driver seemed very excited that I thought was strange
Was amazed that the Swift made bits of the Starlet as I pulled away
Must have been a GTI

It's great fun in a 1.6L Touring too, with L plates on
