E30 Zone

I am one of those apparent 'Criminals' who drive around with my Front Fog Lights on, i think it makes me easier to see, doesn't glare or dazzle anyone and i like the way it makes the car look at the front - all round i think it's a good idea. So why oh why does the world and his wife flash me for it? I see HUNDREDS of other cars with them on, they don't dazzle me and i think they too, look pretty good with them lit up. I have ridden motorbikes for years and on them, you have your lights on all day and night, so being easier to see, so why not these on cars? Even if they do have a high reflective construction, they are aimed at the road, right down low, who the hell do they dazzle?
Sorry but this is starting to do my head in now. I don't drive like an idiot and i'm trying to be safe, ESPECIALLY when the days are getting grey and darker and bloody raining all day, HOW is that NOT a good idea?

I have more of a problem with people who drive round with one light out, or badly aimed lights.

Fogs just make you look council.

Do what most people do and get HID conversions...improved visibility, and no hassle from anyone.

Please,please only use those damn fog lights in fog....that's why they are called FOG LIGHTS. If you must act like a Volvo driver,use dipped headlights. Even better,some E3o's have the dim dip system fitted,use that.

i also like driving with my fog lights on and agree that it gives the car a better look!!

did you know............................its illegal to drive with your fog lights on when not foggy ! and if you get a bugger of a copper see you do it he will nick you most ignore it

HAve you read the highway code? Suppose your the kind of person that likes to show everyone you know where your horn is too don't you.

And some peoples fogs do dazzle oncoming drivers, if people are flashing at you maybe they are being dazzled, have you considered that your fogs are bloody bright (being that they are designed to be used in 'fog') and every time you go over a bump their aim shoots up at oncoming drivers?

But like the title says,
What's the big problem? They don't get in anyone's way at all. The main reason they work in fog is their position, so why is it not ok to have lights at the bottom of the bumper. I just don't understand why it's complained about so much, it really seems trivial.

And i'm not "Trying to act" like anything, least of all a Volvo driver. I am "trying to act" responsibly and safely.

fog lights are designed to work in fog thats why the react different in fog and dont dazzle in fog so use only in FOG

No i didn't know it was illegal and i havn't read the highway code for quite some years. Now i know this, i suppose i had better not do it anymore but i still don't agree that they dazzle anyone.

I use the horn as little as possible too. I didn't post this to start an argument, least of all about how i drive. I just didn't understand why so many complained about Fog Lights. Now i do and thank you for setting me straight.

how can people say fogs dazzle you its the t**ts that drive round with there full beam on

all the time or these s**t rangerovers sports or yanks with there lights not adjusted.

Fog lights are illegal unless visibility is reduced to less than 200m, IIRC. Though someone will correct me on the distance. It may be 150 or 100m.

In the real world, fog lights do feck all apart from act as a substitute for blue washer 'w@nker' lights in their absence.

They do dassle, they are pointles and they do make you look a council muppet. They most certainly do not look good. They are an option fitted to a car to give it another selling point.

It's illegal. It's not big, nor clever. If they get you in trouble, you need to look in the mirror to see the culprit, before ranting at anyone else.

i have my fogs on 80% of the time, living just outside norwich there is allot of countryside, having the fogs on increases my visibility allowing me to see whats lurking at the side of the road or the hedge rows. the mugs who flash me cop the full beam from the e30......... and trust me they dont like that. come to think of it they can proberbly see my full beam from space.

why do people have to flash you or make stupid gestures at you they should just concentrate on where they are going i think they are the bigger prats im with you mate i always drive with my lights on during the day cause of the safety aspect i was under the impression they were not called fog lights i thought they were called driving lights anyway...... i'll have to check the handbook!!

I don't tend to get dazzled too much by oncoming cars with fogs on too much, well no more so than poorly aimed lights anyway, i find it worse when someone is following you with them on dazzling you via the mirrors!

Here's an idea, since compnaies have creted automatic lights and wiper systems why can't they make automoatic fog likghts that only come on in poor visibility and no option to turn them on manualy!!

I removed my wan*er light's altogether as they equal the same as thoes little blue one's people put on there washer's.

Think you'll find drivers lights are the side lights, i have no problem with people driving with lights on during the day, just not bloody fog lights!

My Dad did once get stopped for having his on despite only being about a mile out of a patch of for which warranted having them on, he just forgot to turn them off. Just got told to turn them off though since he informed the copper his foglights were on as well.

because then every volvo would drive around with them permanently on! (apparently some of the new volvo's have a common fault where the light sensors fail, and therefore the lights come on during the day, and there's no manual overide)

They are too close to the ground to be driving lights, and can only be legally used when visibility is poor.
I was pulled once when returning home after coming off a cross channel ferry. My dipped beams were still set for RH dip, so I had turned the fogs on to get a little light along the LH verge. Fortunately plod didn't notice the illegal dipped beams!

It's not the aim of the lights that dazzle you but rather the volume of light, Just as badly aimed headlights are annoying and dangerous, As for blasting oncomming traffic who flash you when you have your fogs on, that's just plain idiotic, he/she flashed you for because he/she can't see properly, and you go and blind him! Have you ever turned back and made sure the unfortunate woman driver and her two young kids were not upside down in a hedge!

I don't like it when people drive with their fog's on, "they look good" is a shit argument, buy some HID's!

i drive around with my lights on all the time as i seem to have a problem where my frotn lights come on with the ignition, no harm in driving around with your lights on in daylight but foglights on when not need is best saved for corsa or saxo drivers

What really fecks me off is the muppets who drive around at night with fogs on in combination with only sidelights.

Also people that drive around with no brake lights or only the high level brake light working, do you actually have an MOT ?, posibility that both brake lamps have blown since the last test are pretty slim.

People who drive around with their front fogs on are c*nts. If any one takes offence...tough, you all look like c*nts driving round with them on in anything other than thick fog

folk with fogs on always get the full beam from me, and not just a flash either.

this is a bit OT but similar to what Iain said above there seems to be a craze amongst learner motorbikers round here to remove their rear light bulb but leave the brake light working somehow. seen this several times now. very strange
