have many people raced these cars in a straight line??

my friend bought one today, seems to rev out nice but it dont have the 2.5 engine sound :(

he's pestering me to line up with him so i wanna be sure i have half a chance, it dont feel very quick to me so i thought its best to find out as their 0-60 is 6.4 !!!

my 325i used to run 15.1 1/4mile best ever, I've seen an integra type R run a 14.3 but that was tuned alot, both times where at santa pod

if your 325i is mildly modded with exhaust, filter and chip you should beat him

serious??

mine has got mild mods like you said but i was thinking of keeping up with him not actually beating him because a 200hp car against against a 15 year old 170hp straight 6 :D

errm... so its seems like it'll be a good race 8)

he'll beat you if he can drive the civic properly

i got a pall with a modod 210 integra Type R , ( 190 basis ) , am not sht of my car, but he just blast past me as soon as his vtec goes on  and gets wors the faster we go

I think he will beat you. My mate has a standard type-r and it would beat a 325i. I have driven it and it is rapid. People on this board seem to under estimate them just because they are jap cars! just look what dave's little civic can do

exactly - quicker than any 325i its gone up against and its only a 1.6 old spec (with weightsaving rust!)

if driven properly (vtec goes to full revs) then i think he will beat me easily but when not driven to the max i reckon the 325i has a good chance :?

i don't think people should under estimate japs cars (dont know any people who do), just look at the Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R - nuff said

i'm specifically referring to civic type-r which has been discussed on this board before. skyline is totally different prospect!!

Jap stuff is good !

Civic would be quicker if the driver knows how to work the engine, 200bhp might look mighty but it barely has more torque than an M42 318iS

In a straight line when they are able to use the top end of their rpm range they are reasonable quick. So if you race him he is only allowed to use the same 6200rpm redline as you :D .

I don't think either of these cars are about straight line races though, there are much better cars for that. Most of the tests I see on the Integra's are about how it handles and performs on a race track, where I think a 325 (probably best with an is) would hold it's own, my 323i usually can.

the older german civic saloon which is a 1.8 vtech is quicker than the new type r and the 325 should wipe both after 60mph......

Both a CTR and ITR should beat you if drove properly. My Astra GSI just about beat a CTR and was alot faster than my 325 Sport.

I think you'll find that Civic type-r 1/4 time is faster than a standard 325is too so it would stay ahead after 60mph too. I love e30's too but not fair to compare a 15 year old car to a new one :D

i drove to Le Mans last year in my 325i cab (catalyst) v's my mates 04 Reg Civic type R and yes it was faster than mine in a striaght line and on the twisties, but there wasnt much in it, he struggled to loose me on the N183! - A very cool road 100 miles long on the way to le mans, loads of roundabouts.

The torque of the 325 kept with it, and also the fact i was canning the nuts off the beemer. I enjoyed that drive, it brings back memories!!!

Ok guys I have both.. 87 Sport scorpion, modded air box & 98 Teg R HKS super dragger, Blitz induction kit, Vtec controller..

The sport is an excellent fun quick car and will diff/drift all day..

The integra type R is an excellent fun quick car..

But in a head to head the Sport has the jump on the Teg of the line to about 30-40MPH but when the Vtec kicks at 4400RPM and rev's to the limiter set at 8600RPM its bye bye beemer..

I do love both these cars..

The Sport for drifting at every junction/roundabout & 6 pot roar..

The Integra R for the Vtec kick screaming to the limiter and super sharp handling.. 8)

I work for Honda and drive the type-r's most days. They are an awesome car, unfortunatley getting a lil common now but they can pack a serious punch. only trouble is getting the the power down, pulling off in 2nd is handy stops you lighting the front wheels. Yes, its no 6 and sounds nothing like it - 6 sounds better. but.....when you hit the vtec you hit fcking warp speed and its adictive!! a truly awesome sound!! throws you back in seat. and dont get me started on the S2000!

S2000.. My mate picked up an X plate a few weeks ago fcuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk its rapid for a 2 litre, 8O he reckons its the quickest 2.0 NA engine on the planet is this true? i know its quick but i dont believe it can be the quickest! :?

Honda s2000 is the most power naturally aspirated 2.0 litre engine you can buy. Revs to around 9000rpm and I think it has around 225 bhp. Yes its rapid and Id love a spin in one!

S2000 is 240 BHP to the rear wheels with no drivers-aids. Lsd and ABS thats all no TC. needs respect. Very easy to spin and loads are cat D as people cant drive them right!!

in my car ive raced 4 type r's...... and i wipe the floor with them easy...

however i was only marginally quicker than Daves civic.....

although i do think CTRs are quicker than 325s... as when racing them they put up more of a fight than 325s.......

they are still MPVs though......

S2000's are weapons.

Unfortunately most of the people who own them dont know how to drive them properly.

I raced one in an old C2 2.5 I had and it wiped the floor with me, the guy knew how to drive it.

I love E30's far more than the souless Honda's but.... and its a big but no standard E30 is faster than a standard type-r or S2 - fact. you have to mod a e30 to get near one which aint playing fair. if you mod the Honda's they'd be unpassable!! plus, why are we comparing????? chalk and cheese come to mind.

I just wish I could find a few people out on the roads around York to have a go. With the exception of an early shape impreza i hung onto the rear end of across some roundabouts at an out of town retail park, there's just no-one biting.

May have to stroke the old girl down the 1/4 mile here in York during the summer.

I think I will be disappointed to be honest, without being cocky, I can drive and launch the car well, but what time do you reckon it would get down to?

It's a 325i 2dr, scropion stainless system, k&n panel in standard airbox, mild chip, piper fast road cam, fse boost valve and ported & polished head. High 14's??? :?

I sort of tried having a go in my 318i, it slightly won tho :(

I just had a go this morning with a CRX Del Sol, I don't know if it had been modified much as it was sitting on 17's and had a rather noisy quad pipe system on the back, but I was not really pulling him in, he did get the jump on me slightly coming off the roundbout where it all started.

Would have liked to have had a standing start to get a proper comparison.

Once i've changed the cambelt and sorted the diff over the bank holiday weekend I think i'm going to get it on a rolling road as I'm sure it should be quicker with the mods I have

Check the meets section, there's a york one with some e36's wanting e30's to race.
High 14's??? :?
I'd agree with that, 14's for sure. :D
