confused.com put your parents on the policey as well, it'll bring the primium down belive it or not, not used for commuting, 3k or less miles a year, off road parking etc etc - make it work for you and not for them.

My first proper car was an e30 325i sport, i bought it when i was 19.....2 days after i passed my test and i found the car on this forum. I love it and it turely was my dream car, the 325i sport was the reason i started driving......i always seen them going sideways along the backroads of the village i live in, i literally had regular dreams about these cars and i still love them! Now i am saving like mad with the ambition of owning an e30 m3 cecotto edition by the time i turn 21, hopfully with the help of this forum i will find a good one....

I hope you find a good car, in my opinion dont waste money on silly mods(it will just attraction attention from the pigs and burn a hole in your pocket), instead save for a real good 325i sport...
winkeye

anyways im pissed as a fart so im of to bed, enjoy e30's.....and be carefull in the wet.....dont want your next post to be a picture of your car wrapped around a lamppost, take it easy fella

PS. The quotes you guys get over in england are unbelievable, over here friends of mine pay 2k for third party insurance on 1.1 petrol puegeots and saxos in their first year of driving! e30's are totally out of the question for anyone over here under 21, except the very very few with traders insurance winkeye

Some companys will allow you to build up your no claims as a named driver, also putting good named drivers on yours will lower it.

"Most" companies won't do Classic Policies until you are 25.

No Claims doesn't count and you wont get any either, it usually based on value of car, mileage and your driving record.

My 325 valued at 2.5k with mods & 5000 miles is £190.00 (fully comp)

1ans 316i for 17 year old on my name with no no-claims was £1200, would have been £800 if I took out the policy whilst he was provisional !! (TPFT)

Don't forget the car will need to be registered in the "parents" name as well to get best price.

Quinn Direct are one of the few companies to insure 17yr olds on a BMW, at a "reasonable" price.

it's a nasty situation to be in, and i've been there.

9 years ago when i started driving, my first car was a 1300 mk2 escort (cheap rwd fun at the time) and that cost me £550 fully comp! the next year was £850 fully comp on a 180bhp mk2 RS2000 with every mod on their list!

i'm now paying £350 fully comp with adrian flux on a 3.5 M30 powered E30 touring with a heap of declared mods.

teehee! :D

on a more helpful note, speak to people at adrian flux about the options available to you. you'll often find that if the car is modified (can be just an air filter) then they can get a better rate. for example, i'd be paying £600 if mine was standard! :D it's like a red rag to a bull for me! :D

getting married helps drop the insurance but that's best avoided if at all possible! keeping the car in the garage also helps (our single garage has 3 cars in it winkeye ) so if you're picking a relative to 'own' the car, pick one with a garage and say you (they!!) use that at night!

Yup, but I do have one of the older ones (MK3), it's an N/A and has an auto box (still bloody fast though).

He said the reason high for me wasn't because it's a supra, but because of the engine size. Anything with a lump bigger than a 2l isn't going to be anywhere near affordable unless it's a 4X4.
