Original keys?

Can you still get original BMW keys? where and how if you can. thanks, Steve

your local bmw dealer mate, just go in with your logbook and ask to order one, they can supply standard key or lighted one, from memory standard is 7quid and lighted is 17quid but that was couple of years ago so prices may have changed

so that explains the button on my key.....was for a light lol may have to look into getting one of these now winter is coming

mines not got any of the circuit left in it though or is it a case of pressing the battery against the bulb?

from memory should be a bit of shaped metal in there and a spring, and yeah battery just presses against metal contact which bulb is linked to
if u need the parts let me know i should have the metal bit and spring

bmw dealers should have the bulbs/batteries in stock

My dealer also wanted a utility bill - rightly concerned about giving the key to any old joe.
However it will only work if your car has never had its locks changed. Mine has so it didn't work...
I bought a uncut and light key from this seller:

yeah good point there, my dealer only needed my logbook for the chassis number as i know all the guys there
and luckily my locks are all original
