Excuse my very bad Photoshop 'concept', but it gives you a rough idea of my thoughts. I was too excited to do it properly and don't have time this morning.

Honest opinions please.

Below are 2 pics of how she looks now:

And how I was thinking: black cross-spoke with red brake calipers.

Does it cheapen her with the new idea, does it look 'council', or am I best leaving her alone.

She is currently undergoing restoration and is in pieces. I bought green caliper paint, then when seeing the red springs through the wheels, had this light bulb appear above my head

I know I'm going to get beaten-down on this, but black rims are just wrong.
If you must paint the calipers - do them black, silver or gold. Red, yellow, green, blue are all council.

I do like the black and red combo personally but not on a green car! Silver might work if you leave a silver lip on the wheels...

Defo do the wheels, arguable abou the Red Calipers - although I don't think by anymeans that is Council. Besides, we all own our council houses now and therefore, are considerably classier than them...

Looks like she should keep her BBS silver so far...........I thought she looked hot in my 'concept'! Just proves how wrong impromptu ideas can be!

I know it's my car, my decision, but I'd hate to be driving around in a car thinking it looks great while every other E30er is thinking, 'What has he done!!! Oh, what sacrilege!'

Oh, more replies since I posted the above.........:)

I don't really like the term 'council' , but it seems acceptable on here and is taken lightly, as it's meant to be....I have some friends and relatives that would be after my head if they knew I used it......lol I'd love a council house if I returned to the UK and would be grateful!

You won't actually see much red through the wheel. Mine are red (and dirty) and you don't notice it at all.
Back to black next time I have the calipers off.

Darker color shouldn't have darker colour rims.

My initial thinking was:

Black rims would match the black trim, while the silver rim would serve to break up the blackness.

Standing back and looking at the profile of the car, I saw that a black caliper would be hidden, and as the green and black gave a conservative yet quite 'mean' look, maybe the red would give a splash of colour, and also show up very well behind black rims......It's the artist in me....LOL

I also looked at other sportier cars than my own, and they have this 'look' as standard............that was my thinking anyway.............. winkeye

black wheels seem to work on an e30 regardless of colour due to the amount of black trim parts on the car especially if you car has no chrome on it,

Looks fine as is! Did you see the replica dtm e30 in PBMW, black BBS with a half inch line of red around the rim, maybe green would suit yours?

@ Celvin, you still around bud?

id do the wheels black but i wouldnt do the calipers red. thats just soooooo 90's man. if you have a big meaty 6 pot brake conversion red would be fine but painted red/blue/yellow etc standard calipers is wrong

I did my BBS rims in Simonize Dark Wheel Silver with a Simonize Light rim. On a Dolphin Grey car. Looked good as the wheels were not as dark as the car but showed more of a darker tint. The lighter rim makes the wheel look a bit bigger, whereas the black rim gets lost in the tyre. Try a few shades lighter green for the cross-spoke area, and a very light silver for the rim, that might work.

do it, do it

i dont lik black rims they make the car look 2 much like an american police car with the trims falling off,

put a bit of red behind it and the 2 colours might break it up, awesum :thumb:

i aint no artist or painter but every 1 will agree that red and black works 2gether,

p.s. i would of laughed at u if u said red and green :puke:
