my diff is a what?

Hi guys
i had a chance to get uder my car this weekend because i wanted to find out what diff i had, so anyway i get under ,clean the tag and it tells me this:
40:11 10 89
huh?
someone please decipher this for me.

40:11 ratio = 3.64:1.
40 (crown wheel teeth) divided by 11 (pinion teeth).

That should give around 75mph at 3000rpm.

Not a slipper then. Mine only had numbers too. IIRC, someone said "A" denotes a factory rebuilt unit.

Aaah, thats about what mine does but cant make out the numbers on it.

What do they say if they are a slipper? Doing a donut always seems a bit wrong when testdriving a car

First character is "S", followed by no. of crown wheel teeth, then no. of pinion teeth.
