What's this worth ???

We have in our possesion a 1990 (G plate) 318 Auto

It has 90K miles.

No Tax, but MOT till June 2008.

It's red, is in pretty good condition but has some surface rust bubbles on the rear arches.

The auto box works and kicks down when it's supposed to.
It also has a new exhaust (fitted at last MOT) and the shocks feel in good condition. No bouncing around like my mates old 316 he used to own !!! :D

It has decent tyres but only the BMW steely wheel trims.
The car also has a noisy diff !!!

There is a fair amount of good stuff about this car and seems a shame for us to break it. However, we know we'd get more money by breaking the car, it'd be easier to sell it on in one piece, especially with the long MOT.

So.......how much is a car like this worth, if anything ??

£250 as the auto is not really desirable to many.

Ebay it.

well not gonna ebay it to get £10 for it as we can easily strip it and sell all the good stuff. Even the standard seats are in great nick.

Just trying to guage whether it's worth the hassle of stripping it even though the easier option is to sell off as a whole car. The only really bad thins is the auto box which as someone said, is not sought after at all. But then, if we stripped it, I'm sure we would eventually sell the box....and the engine etc etc

From what you've written it sounds like a half decent, low mileage 318i. Whilst most would prefer a manual, an auto 318i is actually quicker than an auto 320i and isn't a bad car at all. Personally, I'd ebay it with a reserve to make sure you don't end up with peanuts!

Seen 2 similair cars for sale price between £700 and £900.
Think the sellers are dreaming though.

Like I say, just wanting to know what it's really worth to people (you guys) who know these cars and what they should go for.

I normally do Alfas and see loads of old cars "over-priced"...ie....more than what club enthusiasts would pay :D

If it's brilliant red, and your breaking it, I'll have the passenger wing, passenger front door, front panel & valance. Sorry to seem like a vulture.

Thanks.

It's not so brilliant red. The 17 years have faded it slightly. Still looks red though but needs a nice T-cut and polish

Wouldn't worry about that. As long as it's not very bad. Could you get a couple of pics? Where are you?

Impossible to say without pics.

If it's not hanging out of its' arse, would be a shame to break it for breakings sake.

Could be a good donor car for a project. Depends what motivates you, a few extra quid over the course of a few weeks, via pi$$ing around with buyers with more talk than cash, haggling over pennies. Plus factoring in the cost of your time to skin your knuckles breaking it and agro from her indoors for having the lawn look like a pikey campsite, or:

Perhaps not getting so much money overall, but having the car gone in one transaction, no loss of time or irate missus or knackered lawn, plus one more e30 still on the road.

That's why I think the prefered option is to sell it whole !!!

If it's a standard motor, perhaps some auto deviant enthusiast from the car club may give you a no quibble option?

There's a few OEM fettlers knocking around on here.

best to get some pics up, then chuck it in the for sale section.

Good luck mate.

This is the only picture I have. My mate took it on his mobile and sent it to me:

Brings back fond memories of my first E30 - a hotpoint white 316i on steels. Being a G Plate it should at least have leccy windows, tinted glass, pas and central locking. When I got mine it seemed like the height of luxury compared to my old Pug 205!

Sorry as a tired looking 4 door auto it is worth scrap value only. Don't bother fragging it as what will you sell ? :?
Try and make it look tidier, ie run a mop over and stick it on ebay, someone who wants a cheap runner might give a couple for it.

saw no sunroof, got all excited then saw 2 extra doors :(

Yep....it is the poverty spec :D

@PacerPete...well someone has already asked for a wing a door and a couple of front panels. The engine is good, the gearbox is good. The interior is amazing condition.
Now who might want it ?? I dunno, maybe someone with a goos spec car but has a rusty or knackered body. As someone said, it is a good base.

Not that the car is being sold for that reason, it's being sold as it's not needed and it semms a shame to break it, despite the fact the car would make more for it's parts instead of being whole.

I bet there are cars on here with bits of broken interior trim, worn or burst seats etc etc.

Also..we know the car is worth very little, but I doubt it's worth as little as scrap value...ie....nothing at best, or having to pay the scrappy to take it which is what is happening these days due to the costs of getting rid of tyres, oil etc etc.

Anyway, I'll put an ad in the For Sale and see.

Forget breaking it, you'll end up with a big pile of bits and about £78. Waste of time advertising it here as well. Ebay is the answer. With a good clean and 12 really nice sharp pics it will make £250+.

Four doors and auto is not a good combo.

Yup 12 "sharp" pictures if you use the above picture you will get £150 max.

I would put 6month tax on it so it is drive away.

I think if you really try you could just get £500 - but you will have to really really try.

Spend a bit more for a decent ad on ebay and start it with 1p no reserve. Hold you nerve; I had a 316i that went up £250 in the last hour.

Post a link of you ad on here.
