Hello all,

I'm new on here, and looking at getting an E30 as a trackslag to replace my little 205 Mi16. The 205 bought it at the 'Ring in Easter at Hatzenbach, still in one piece but the chassis is bent and I can't be arsed with 205's anymore.

I was going to get an E30 a few years ago but the seller decided to sell it to the higher bidder on a privte sale after I had paid a deposit! Gutted......

Anyways, after owning an E34 530 and my current '07 120d Sport I'd like to sort myself with the E30.

Conversion I'm looking at is the 335i one with the M30 due to cheapness, engines are strong and its relatively straight forward management-wise.

Although, should I consider the other engines that fit. I see on AutoTrader that there is crashed E36 328i for sale complete. I know these cars go very well (my mate had one with a 'chip') but are they worthwhile over an M30 3.5?

I apologise if this is in the wrong section!

hey mate and welcome to the forum, there are people here with both conversions and if im right on a very recent santa pod meeting the person with the 2.8 in his touring was going faster than those with the 3.5's, there are pros and cons with both as the e36 engine would require more wiring to be done but as people have done it im sure they will help you out, if you find no joy here trying the search button and research on the m30 (3.5) and the m50/m52 (2.5-2.8 ).
