calling all tourings

i am very close to buying a touring and after settling the 316 v 318 debate i am now getting certain people telling me that the mpg/economy isnt a great deal less than the six cylinders! ( just to make matters worse) .So i am now asking zoners in particular touring owners to give me feedback on what mpg they are getting- have never trusted manufacturers figures so i am calling on genuine folk to give me honest genuine figures for their 318i's or 320's- i like to use the ten pound rule-what will i get for me tenners worth of juice-

I found a good difference between my last 320 & my 316. I don't know figures but the 320 was hard to keep up with. Then again it may have been the car. I did drive the the sh*t out of it, I loved the sound of the full scorpion exhaust. In the 316 I was much more civilised.
That probably didn't help much.

I've got a '92 K 316i Touring and an '88 E 325i Touring. The 316i does around 32mpg, giving a realistic range of 350 miles on a tank. The 325i will only do around 24mpg for the same type of use, meaning that it's range is nearer 250 miles. However...both cars are driven fairly quickly...

OK, here's mine - worked out to your rule.
320i Touring, commuting (8.5 miles each way, 5 days a week), 25(ish)mpg. Worked out at roughly £17.50 per 100 miles.
So a tenner would have been roughly 57 miles.
On a run, it did 30ish mpg so that tenner would stretch nearly 70 miles.
It's all academic now though, I've converted it to LPG so I go twice as far for the same money.

Based on a full tank, bit of town driving + A roads + long motoway trip, couple of 120 blats, mine turned in 27mpg
EDIT

Exactly what my 320i convertible does. I bet it would be much better if i wasnt stuck in traffic all the time!

Don't think I broke the 400 mile barrier very often, you must have a light foot Graham, lol!
How'd the MOT go?

I managed it once, IIRC, I hadn't had the car very long. Was the only time I ever saw the red warning light on in the fuel guage. About 420miles I think it was. Averaged about 34mpg touring 'round the Loch Lomand area and couldn't find a bloody petrol station anywhere!
