there has been a previous thread about this though no one on here has yet posted having seen the car in question which is apparently an MOT failure. The question that occurs to me is how much rust?

Not wishing to be alarmist, but...

... if it is a newish import from S A...

...well I'm pretty sure there is no MOT in S A (Hyperion can put us right), so that could mean a LOT OF RUST!

its not a new import a mate of mine emailed the guy about the car hence i know its an mot failure. i don't want to encourage speculation about the state of this car I am sure someone on here has seen it. Best wait for them to post.

Yep NO MOT is SA, so if the car was a coastal car, then it would have some rust, but like any E30, you just need to check her out. A 333i from inland would be great if she was taken car of.

Not always true of the rust issue on coasts..................look at all the rust-free Californian Camper Van imports that come in to the country.........especially splitties. We have more of an issue with salt air on the coasts here than in the States, etc. Sounds illogical but something to do with our weather patterns and pressure systems and the like. What I am saying is coastal cars from abroad aren't all plagued with rust...........

I wish there was such a thing as a MOT in SA, makes the cars alot safer. Sorry, off topic.
