Got a diamond black 325i
Its not strictly a Baur though-it's a South African factory built job-like a Buar but with a few extra gizmos
Got it 3 weeks ago but havn't really started to work on it yet

Will take some pics next weekend after Ive given it a good clayrub and polish
The South African BMW factory were apparently given permission to make them-the mid 80's was when the Apartheid era was nearing its end and international pressure was intensifying-thus they wernt able to get Baur imports-so it is a BMW factory made car with its own proper BMW owners handbook
Apart from having things like the real deal walnut woodcappings and cruise control it is in fact exactly the same as a baur without the pillar badge-it also has aircon and rear widow demist fan which i am not sure were standard on the baur 325
Whem I was in SA in March I saw a few running around Cape Town
I might be taking it down to Hestercombe next Sunday-not to show obviously but just for the run

clackmac those rear mud flaps need to go!
mudb flabs

by clackmac325
Your right about the flabs mate.It was just a tempary bodge because i had to get it on the road.I hate them. The cars a 1986 and the kits a later e30 so to fit i had to adjust the rear bumper and the panels behind the door.Im trying find a quality solution for this. You cant weld the plastic its made of some sort of mad polytype resin stuff so glue and filler was the only way of joining it.
Ive got the rear demist but the cruse and aircon sound like good options.
I really want the hard top though.I think it would make the car totaly stand out,but they are rare!!! I knew a guy that worked at rydale and he recons they have one in one of there storage places. But the list price is over a grand. Ive got a few more jobs to get done 1st.

Nav786 I have never seen one in the flesh so to speak, but i went into my local dealer a couple of years ago and they have the parts broucher.Which showed a hard top with a glass window that fits on to the rear section. It looks awsome. Trouble is it cost just over a grand

.Ive been looking around for a used one ever since.I think you would have one amazing looking rare e30. They are about because a guy i spoke to a rockingham last year sorts people hard tops.He recons 500 dabs used

but i gotta have one!!!!!What about that e36,is that the most ugly piece of turd you ever did see.But a four door cab LOL.
I wonder If they did a e36 coupe baur i think that would look ok.

This just sold for 82 quid on ebay.

Bumpy nice to know there are still a few of us out there.Parts i have found are as e30. But what you must be carefull with is the winding part wich elevates the center section. When you put the center part in make sure its wound down because it can break when you bang the center in(sure you know what i mean) this part is very expensive (150 i think) new.You dont see that many breaking because they are rare.I broke mine but luckly a guy named jason who is local just breaks cabs and had a frame lying about(lucky) other wise it meant bashing the card.
MORE BAUR PICS PLEASE!!!!!

good call, but i think it's the wheels that made me think that - the back ones (out of focus) look just like the alloys that used to be on my granny.. (no sick jokes please!)

The rear of the land rover came off.He was selling some bits on ebay and emailed me the pics.Im amazed he managed to walk a way. They dont come much worse than a l rover.

Hi,
I bought I 1985 320i Baur last year (2004) and it's great. I got it as a compromise - I wanted a proper convertible my wife wanted money in the bank. As Baurs sell for a lot less than cabriolets for the moment I got one. Now I really like the old girl (car and wife) and I'd be hard put to part from it. I always get questioned about it in town and it's true that wind noise is pretty low with the top down - I can happily listen to the radio at 85 mph: please note I live in France and 85 mph is our motorway speed limit, obviously I'd never go so fast anywhere else.
I'm doing some restoration on what is already a pretty nice vehicle but if you want to see what it looks like today I'll need to be reminded how to post pictures - last time I tried I got knocked back.
Cheers,
Andrew

Great finally. Glad you like your baur dude. I love mine.I oringinaly got mine because it was cheap. It was pretty fcuked and unloved but mechanicaly sound.I have really fallen for it now though(im the soft git who picks the smallist puppy) In my opinion its a very cool car.The only cab you can put surfboards on the roof with the hood down.
Id like to help you get some pics posted, but im quite new to the interweb.
The one i use is
http://imageshack.us/index.php
But if you check the zone index there is a how to guide on how to post them.Ii still havent quite sussed it as all my pics turn out massive.
Good luck though.I look forward to seeing your pics mate!!!!
I just won this on ebay for 75p. cool eh
