Well, after just installing alot of i.c.e, and my car has got alpina's, iS lip etc

I've just realized that i dont have any form of alarm or immobiliser

So i've been looking on e-bay to get a rough idea of prices etc, but there are so many with loads of features i dont know what to buy or whats good for the money.

Can any one give me links or alarms with some key features that arent gona break the bank i.e <Ԛ£150

Thanks for any help,

Adam

If you do buy a secondhand alarm make sure you have someone who can fit it.

Car electronics wanted Ԛ£150 just to fit my Clifford alarm that i had removed from my old car, luckily a mates doing it for me this weekend for a bottle a Southern Comfort!

You can get those Toad Ai606's off ebay for Ԛ£120 plus a bottle of Jack Daniels to a mate - job done.

I'm also going through the mill looking for an alarm but can't make my mind up, I found one I wanted and emailed the seller about the choice of fob thing as I wanted a particular type only to be told they are out of stock - WHY FCUKING ADVERTISE THEM THEN :soap:

Anyway, good luck mate. Buy the best you can afford, it's gotta be chav-proof

If you can wire up patch panels and banks of servers through KVM switches etc fitting an alarm to your car should be straight forward.

Got any jobs going at your place??

Fair enough.

I used to do auto electrics/mechanics for a living and now do IT design/maintenance etc and neither are particularly hard.

I can't really see a difference between routing a microwave sensor cable through the bulkhead of a car to running some cat5 or fibre optic through a false floor/ceiling.

Good luck finding someone to do it mate.

Got myself an immobiliser, fitted for Ԛ£89... Would have preferred a full alarm, but it would have cost miles more to get one fitted & it wouldn't have made any difference to the insurance... :?
I'll fit a proper alarm at some point, but I'll do it myself. It's really not difficult & I'd do a tider job than the "pro" did!

I've got my cat2 certificate though, so the insurance company's happy, & it was cheap, so I'm happy! :D

Ive got a toad Ai 606 as well. Great alarm and everything is remote however its a bugger if you wanna leave the sun roof tilted up as the alarm goes off after a few mins as its got a safety feature for windows and roof. If you can get it off ebay for Ԛ£120 or so then not a bad price as ive a recepit for buying mine in 2001 for Ԛ£290!

To be thatcham approved it needs to be installed proffesionally.

Or you need to know someone who will stamp the thatcham certificate ;)
