no, i've taken them off all 3 325's i've had, but to be fair on my sport they did work but i didn't like the look.
My C2 luckily is not saddled with this sh!te
They need stripping down, cleaing and copper greased up to stop them seizing again basically. The wipe rod which comes out the motor can get a little rusty and it doesn't take much for them to stop working

It really depends if you want originality or not.
They are functional in the winter when the roads are being plastered with salt, and the roads are wet, but other than that, they are a bit 80's.

The easy way is to replace them.Look in the for sale section or put in wanted section.I tried to free up mine but one motor was fooked and I could'nt get the spindle out of the other.I got 2 from a zoner but I can't make up my mind if I want to keep them or take them off.

think you push your wiper stalk in toward the steering columb, they work with the intensive wash...i think

They are only supposed to work with the headlights on, and supposed to activate with every 5 operations of the windscreen wash, but they never seem to have any pattern!

on my old sport they came on when you did an intensive wash when you pressed the wiper arm inwards towards the steering wheel.

Mine on my 323 work but not the 320.
TBMW did an article once on how to strip the motors and make them work as mainly the problem is due to seizure of the spindle.

Rip them out. They're rubbish.

My left ones worked for a few months but now that has packed up too. I'll probably strip em down and get them working but its not a high priority.

Mine work, which reminds me,the passenger side one would work much better if I actually got around to putting some blades on them!
I'm suprised they haven't cut through the glass yet, been meaning to put the blades on for.......well...........3 years..........

Mine work and they're brilliant, driving along the motorway in winter, the flat fronted lights soon get so covered in shite. One packed up and that light was about 30% dimmer.
And what's wrong with the 80's look anyway...

well thanks for that you guys, the last pair of motors i saw on ebay went for over £40 i think! so obviously working ones are sought after things......... but not by me, think ill strip them off when i have 10 mins. while i appreciate the originality of the things. i agree they look silly, fussy and clutter up the front of the car?!

My passenger one worked for about 3 months then the whole washer sytem including windscreen washers seized up. My local BMW git reckoned he had to disconnect them to get the windscreen washers working again. I don't know if this is true but at least I can see through the screen now. I quite like that 80's look too so I've let them be. So there.

I've only ever come across one headlamp motor that I couldn't repair (motor had rusted through). Most strip down easily enough, and once done, usually stay done. I have one set here that were sorted 8 years and 100,000 miles ago, and they are still working perfectly, as I demonstrated to a passenger in my car last night, who commented on the effectiveness of them.
They are supposed to work every fifth usage of the screen washers with the lights on.
