I was just wondering is there anybody out there that has undertaken converting a manual soft top to an electric one? Can it even be done? How easy is it?

i would of thought anyone can be converted but there is so much to change and unless you have a doner car cost would prohibit it ....the hood is different as is the frame the hood and flap motors are hard to come by 2nd hand and cost around £700 for the pair from bmw then there are looms/cables/micro switches i have a electric roof and when it goes wrong it is a real pita ......stick to manual you know it makes sense

Electric roofs are shite. Stick with manual. It's far quicker.

Dont bother mate i have a mate that works in the parts department of sytner bm in solihull and even with my discount it would have been over £4k.you have to change everything even the canvas is differint for the electric roof,which to be honest i didnt even relise that,so stick to the manual roof,quicker and a damm sight cheaper
