Can anyone recomend an aftermarket exhaust for the M42 engined 318is. The one that is on it won't pass the NCT (Irish equilivent of the MOT) and need to source one fairly soon. Ive had trouble locating any. would like one with twin exit pipes, not too loud but more throughty than standard. louder on accelleration.
any suggestions appreciated.
Cheers

not many around tbh, a few back boxes and centre sections. You could do a full custom from Fritz's bits or powerflow, I am sure they might be a few more manufacturers but they ain't cheap and the results are always debated....

The original is the best really, if you want to change it will take some work to get what you want, without losing power and getting the look you want. Only have a back box on mine but it does not match your twin pipe idea, it is a Sebring box which there is also a centre section available

question was asked here too but nothing much else has turned up on here about iS exhaust options (that I Have seen!)

The sebring give a really nice sound, it is a little throaty not loud but enough to be really sweet. I have only ever had good comments from other people on the sound. I really like it but my current fitting is a bag of poo so it needs to be done again.
I don't have the centre section, only the back box so cannot really comment on what the 2 together would be like. Build quality is good, Sebring have an excellent rep but it is not cheap!

I don't think Sebring make 318iS exhausts anymore even though people list them.
The standard system is as good as it gets.

When I had a 318is I replaced mine with a Powerflow item, to get rid of the cat as well.
Dont ask them for a loud one, you'll get something stupid loud, just ask for a direct replacement with twin rolled slashed pipes. It looks good but still understated, nearly oem. I was ahppy with it and they maintain it for free, as long as you get it checked every so often.

I have a twin Scorpion Stainless system on the back of mine with the DTM upswept tips that was on when I bought the car.
I am changing this to the Sebring unit as I don't really like the twin look (Haven't had time to fit it yet.). The Scorpion system is "loudish"

so I don't know how this would be for your NCT.
Also as to how these fit as IS is another thing as I have been told that Scorpiion never made an exhaust for the IS

. Though I have seen 3 others with this setup.
