hi guys

well i`ve been a member now for about eight minths and never really told my story. so i thought its time to introduce my self. i`ve also been waiting for some good weather to post some pics of the car.

anyway im23 and live in the isle of man. i have always loved the e30 m3, mainly because because they are rarely seen on the roads. im originally from manchester and as you can imagine i grew up loving the likes of subaru imprezas. at 18 i left there and came to the island and imprezas were on every road (literally). so i soon became bored of them and never really had a car that i aspired to owning.

a year or so past and one day while at work an old black bmw past me which i thought was fantastic. and that was it i was in love. it turns out that the car in particular you have probably seen at some point or other. it belongs to a lad called tim and featured on bbc`s top gear.

so from then on all i did was read up about them and look at the internet and the more i read the more i wanted one.

but being a young lad and enjoying drinking and girls i never got my arse in gear and started taking lessons.

i passed my test in may last year and decided it would be stupid to go out and buy one as my first car. so i bought myself a little 306td which i drove for all of 2 months then i was on a plane to pick up the m3.

wow what an experience, getting out of a french diesel into one of bavarias best.

and that smile is still firmly on my face. since owning the car i have had to put it through the manx road test (similar to the m.o.t but much more thorough). also new billy suspension, new stainless brake hoses, new brake and fuel lines, new vent pipe, new rubber elbow for plenium chamber, new exhaust gaskets, new sumpgaskets, a set of 16" bbs cross spokes and a set of 17" split rims.

still a few bits to do most noticable are the ariel and side repeaters ( some clown decided to put corsa repeaters on  ) but its an issue that will be sorted in the coming weeks.

i would also like to thank many of you guys that have helped me along the way.

so heres some pics of the car.

I'm tempted to get them and just carry around a set of normal ones in the boot in case I come across an arsey policeman. Just dont want the grief of getting pulled all the time.

My dad only got pulled once running around for about a month with them on.

Got 4 offences with that aswell.

Window tints.
Plates.
Motorized screen up.
and smoked rear lights.

All he got was a £30 fine which isn't all bad if you ask me

Nice motor any plans for it? ( maxfield )

there is a few of us heading to the ring in june so its just a case of giving her another big service before we go.
also need to sort repeaters but think im gonna delete them all together. in the middle of reconditioning a set of 17" split rims at the moment. also want to start replacing parts of the engine i.e water pipes, header tank and paint the valve cover and plenium chamber just to make under the bonnet look that little bit sweeter

I'd go with some better pads and disks and some decent fluid they are crucial. maybe go through all the bushes etc as they will make a big difference too.

A decent race oil might also help. check gearbox and diff oil also.

Also me and my dad could be over in june

I can't wait to go.

Just to see what it can do.

It's been pushed hard on the road but nowhere near what it could do on the ring especially with pilot cups on :)

How do they limit you?

AS if theres not speed limit then you still should use the roads to its full potential :?

if the police clock me doing more than 5omph then get points on license. its the same for every one here on the island in there first year of driving.

in saying that i still get to open it up i just have to keep a watchful eye

tbh it costs me a lot more due to having to get on the ferry to the uk. so think i may be limited to just one trip a year. but will probably be thinking differently by the time i get back in june :D

thanks for the comments too ben. tbh i knew it was gonna cost a fortune to own and run one  but its all worth it :D

Definately mate, especially if you live on the isle of man

Its one of those things you just have to do because you want to, not because it makes financial sense!

not sure what the crack is with tinted rear lights but on the isle of man you can have black and silver plates on a car that was made before march 1990. mines actually april 1990 but they`ve never checked :D
