I get mine for £25, usually I avoid places that are this cheap as they tend to be looking for work, but this guy is a fellow Opel Manta Owners Club member.

Not mates rates... well kinda. I've spent so much in their garage (unifit plymouth) that they take pity on me and my various sheds.

I also pay cash and get them to do the work to make it pass.

£30.

£10 payable if you fail, then the remaining £20 when you return and hopefully pass.

£50, but that's at the council depot, so you're guaranteed a "fair trial". They have no interest in making up stuff for your car to fail on, as they do no work on private vehicles.

my MOT cost £50, and although failed 1st time, they allowed a free retest within 10 days which did pass yesterday :D

I thought the price was supposed to be standardised since the launch of the new computer based certification. With a top end fee for testing at £54?

can't get an MOT for less than £50 in Bournemouth, Swansea can be anything from £30-£50, but usually passes at a £50 garage and doesn't at a £30 garage.

Very similar to the arrangement I have, but unfortunately the test station is 150 miles away!

Just to clarify, my garage that charges £25 that is his standard rate, and my car's do fail if they're not right. Just put Jayne's Volvo 480 in and it failed on everything from Headlamp aim to handbrake travel. All fair cops mind. Just got to get my ass in gear to sort it out (or scrap it).
