Quoted £350 for a full system for my 318is or £250 for a back box? are these prices fair?

Is this the price from BMW?

I paid £114 for front and middle sections of a 325 exhaust last week. From Mill Auto. (yes I know it wont last long but it was all I could get at short notice). Back box was another 80 if i remember right.

I think that £250 for the back box includes the midle silencer, so it's more than just the back box. I'd imagine that the £350 would include the front resonator on top of the middle and rear sections.

I dont understand exhausts so many different bits!

All i want is one that has nice tail pipes and makes lovly sound, how much will that cost, oh and stainless

Sounds about right considering I got quoted £625.00 just for a catalyst for my cabby

For that money surely it is better paying the extra and having a longlife stainless or similar fitted............?

Longlife quoted me 440 for a straight through system for my car. (no middle box, just downpipes and pipes to a back box)

Stacked up against a standard non-performance, non-stainless system..........that looks good VFM imo.

yup, and comes with a lifetime guarantee too. If anything breaks, hangers, joins etc they will fix it for free as long as you still own the car.

Is that for a stainless exhuast? I paid £300 i think for my full stainless system.

Got a year old standard exhuast on my breaker if thats of any interest to you?

i gave them a go and they supplied me with a really crappy middle box for £60 that didnt fit properly

I have that on my Beemer and it do its job perfect for me and sounds good to!

why has this been brought up a year later

because i was after an exhaust and came across this topic recommending onlineautomotive.co.uk, so i tried them and it was a disaster, so just warning anyone else that comes across this topic not to try them

I'm still planning on resurrecting my Scorpion - but if that fails, I'll be getting one done by Longlife. They quoted me £199 for the back box.

Can't be far off. Retail on a 6-cylinder 2-piece system from BMW is about £520 inc. VAT.

Well I had a really nice Sebring back box on mine, looks really, really nice, sounds nice and meaty but doesn't drone sat at 3500rpm like some of the louder ones do, which is the sign of a good exhaust. But a a couple of weeks back I needed a new centre box, cheapest was around £215 for a 2 piece system, while a company on ebay could supply a complete 3 piece system for £140 delivered including all fittings.

So the Sebring has come off to help fund the 3 piece system. However, I am now thinking maybe I should just put the Sebring back box back on the car, so much nicer having a proper exhaust.
