First drift day of the new year....

The first time I've had the car out in anger since last October, and the first time I've had a chance to use my disgustingly sexy hydraulic handbrake, it was at Ingilston show ground just outside Edinburgh...

These are the only decentish ones I could find that my mate took, there were professional photographers there too so hopefully some really nice ones will surface.

Managed to get a lot of good practice in today, could really feel myself getting better by the end, managing to link up some good bits and do some long slides into the hairpin on the handbrake.

The car had been pulling quite hard to the left on the way there, discovered it was a leaking passenger side strut causing the problems (oil in the top mount), but it coped with this admirably (quite sore on the arms though!). Apart from that, only problems were niggly - clutch pedal kept jamming on some linkage or something and sticking to the floor, battery lead kept popping out, and the scandalously high idle helped to chew through a whole tank of petrol. I've got a new worry too, my mates E36 tore its diff mounts after a few hard drifting practices, and after hearing some knocks and bangs today, I'm getting paranoid this is going to happen here too - going to thoroughly research reinforcement options! I'm totally in awe of the car again though, how a 20 year, 176k car can drive me to an event, bounce of the rev limiter from 10-4.30 and drive me back again with a knackered shock is beyond me!

Hopefully the H&R ARBs will arrive soon, I'm going to post in the technical forum asking about bushes soon (sorry, but they really need doing!), and I'm going to look into some stiffer shocks now to replace the ones up front. I'm sure they can be repaired, but this is a good excuse to get some better ones - its got M-Techs up front and adjustable Avos on the rear set very hard, with 60mm Jamex springs all round - any suggestions what would be good front shocks to get? Adjustable would be nice, but I'm really after the stiffness to match the front.

Been looking at the Koni adjustables, they seem very good for the price - anyone got any experience (its a 325 by the way)?

Once that little lot is in and I get the tracking redone, it should be an absolute gem!

EDIT: Oh aye, and a quick note on German build quality. One guy put his Sierra into a cone and cracked his radiator. Another guy stacked his Cefiro into a cone and off came his JDM tyte front bumper. My pal crashed the beemer into a cone, and the only trace is that red scuff on the bumper. Magic 8) .
