I think I need four new tyres to get my 318i through its MOT in a weeks time! Its on 14 inch rims and currently has semi racign tyres on which I cant get another set of!

Any recommendations as to what rubber to stick on would be good!! Dont want to spend more than £200 for 4 tyres!! 195 / 60/ 14's

Cheers!

Vredestein Hi-trac 195/65/14 89H are 45.5 GBP all-in on mytyres delivered. Take 'em to your local Kwik-fit and offer them 30GBP cash to fit them.

I've never had Vredesteins, but they are very highly regarded.

like I said, allegedly Vredesteins are very very good grip, wet or dry - they are just not common in the UK.

86 = Load index - simply put this is the strength of the tyre sidewalls, or if you like how heavy the car is you are fitting the tyres to.

H = speed rating.
I assumed you weren't going to be going over 130mph :D and it keeps the cost down.

do a Google on such things; you'll find better explanations than mine.

If you don't want the hassle of getting new tyres, fitting them and getting them balanced, then I have a mint set of refurbished 14" BBS with a set of matching 195-65-14 H rated tyres which have had very little use. Only want £100ono for them! :D

Had some firestones fitted on friday, still running the new rubber in but they appear to have lots of grip in the dry and in the wet (it rained most of the weekend!!)

But was amazed as to how quiet they are compared to the old tyres! Can hear the engine more now and even though she is only a 4 pot the noise makes me smile all the time!! :D have started to introduce a few more throttle blips now winkeye
