Why do you like tourings

I am a new member and thought this site would be full of M3's, sports, cabs etc but it appears that there are tons of people who own tourings so I should fit in well with my 325i touring.

I originaly bought it as I was running all over the country going to karting events and it was the perfect car to cover huge distances, it held all my karting kit with ease, some times three guys with three sets of kit 300 miles no probs.

I was also doing up my house so having an estate was perfect for picking up flat packs from Ikea, wooden flooring, chairs etc. I also prefer the shape of the touing to the coupe, although I could be tempted by a nice sport with mtec kit.

So why do you like yours

There is something about the tourings, I dont know what but I really like the look.

I preferred my brothers touring when it was parked next to my sport.

Or just buy an M-tech kit for your touring!

Great cars and they look different to the norm!

I needed the practicality of the touring but still wanted a bm and it still had to be 6cyl so the touring was the obvious choice.

Fast as fec for a hearse

I actually think they LOOK better than the E36 version,Don't know why tho
Good choice by the way.

One thing tho
having an estate was perfect for picking up flat packs from Ikea

It's a TOURING
NOT an estate

I originally bought mine to carry my mountain bike in the back but have only done so twice!! I like the Q car aspect of it, it looks like an estate but goes like a sports car and I also like the comparitive rarity of a touring, theres a bit of kudos about them......

I love tourings, I dont know why I just think they are cool!

They are quite rare, and you dont get barryboys with them!

I'd have to have a big phat engine though, so E30Dreamer (or whatever your name is on this new forum!) let me know if you want to sell!

:)

Simon, your touring looks sweet with the M-Tech kit, does anyone make them still or is it a case of looking out for a second hand one?

I "think" the M-tech II kit for a touring is the same as 4 door kit apart from the rear spoiler (ultra rare from what ive heard)

325i Touring......

Look the nuts (great backend stance).

Practical if you have kids, dogs etc.

Fast.

Not a common car.

Good tow car if you don't mind changing gear quite alot!

They have a "classy" feel about them, irrespective of it's age.

A choice motor car,end of story!

When I bought mine, it ticked the following tick boxes on my list:

:P Rear wheel drive - (We all know it's more fun that way)
 Useful size, but not 'too' large - (Renovating my house)
8) Unusual - (I hate being normal when it comes to cars)
8O Decent performance & handling - (Enough said)
:-x Not attractive to theiving scum - (Just thinking of my pocket)
 Good value - (A lot of car for the money these days)
:x Timeless looks - (You can't beat a bit of class)

I think it scores over the saloons and coupes, mainly due to the fact that in my eyes, it has a more 'timeless classic' look to it. As an added extra, I understand that it was the first of it's kind, in terms of being an upmarket, 'high performance', semi-estate.

The sort of karting I do with Club100 means that you dont have to use your own cart, they provide the karts. Most of the cars were quite nice, in fact the car parks tuned into a car meet as there were so many nice motors.

A touring means you can get a newer car ('94) and is less likely to have been messed about with. Even the lowliest run-out model 316 got 15" BBS, proper deep pile carpets, sorted suspension and discs all round.

:offtopic: Wez - looks like bharat has the headrests you were looking for before. <elephant like memory!>

I notice in the pic the for sale sign in the window, I remember seeing this on E-bay and speaking to you about the stripes on www.pistonheads.com.
So did you sell the touing in the end, I remember the e-bay auction ended with the reserve not being met.
