Brake fading!!!!

Lastnight I was driving back to Stockport from Derby on the A6 route, got to Buxton and I dicided I would take the Whaley Bridge (A5004) route up and over back in to Disley. It was 11pm at night and I was pushing the old Tech1 sport.
Now my car has normal sport brake setup I think... and these are twisty road, Those of you that now where I'm talking about will understand this type of road.
Anyway Under alot of heavy breaking my brakes became so spungy I thought I was gonna loose it (Which I nearly did) I came out and looked at my brakes to see what the problem was, and Guess what??? the brake disc's were glowing red. Oh yes RED/orange colour and smoking badly.
Now that was after maybe 10 -15 minutes of hard driving.
So I stopped and let the brakes cool down for 5 mins then off again, but taking it really easy.
Now here is where I need some help, What disc's and pad combination would you recommend, the reason I'm asking is that in March I'm off on a Euro trip which includes 8 laps of the Nurburgring and going across the Swiss Alpes. So I need good brakes..
I have already orderd Braided pipes unless someone has a set they no longer need, it has to be 6 pcs.. But need a good but not too expensive brake setup. Also my e30 suffer with a spungy feel on the peddle anyway, is there a ungraded master cylinder that I can install to give the brakes a more positive feel.
Thanks you all...
Jay-T

i recommend ebc drilled /grooved discs with ebc redstuff ceramic pads, ive never had my brakes fade on me yet and i abuse it on a regular basis.downside is the pads only last 5-6 months @ £100 an axle set

Must admit, I have heard alot about "EBC Pads" and they are very very good, I did have them on my Merc 2.5-16V and that thing stopped like you just thown an ancker out of the boot..
So I think I will invest in some EB's but what Disc's and what about the master cylinder. need to get rid on the spungyness...
I will be doing a heck of a lot of driving in March.
Manchester to dover
Dunkerque to the Nurburgring
8 laps at the Rin (112 miles)
Ring to Prague
Prague to Munich (BMW Factory and Museum)
Munich to Ingualstrat (Audi factory and museum)
IngualStrat to Stuttgart (home of Mercedes and Poroshe)
Stuttgart to Geneva to the Motorshow. Up and over the Swiss Alpes
Geneva to Brussels
Brussels to home.
So there will be a lot of high speed action followed by a lot of high speed braking. So need somthing up to the job...

Hey Jay-T,
I don't have any advice about the brakes as i'm new to E30's and i'm no expert on braking either, but i just thought i'd say hi!
I live in Stockport (well, just outside) and i know the roads you're talking about, i regularly go up through Buxton and on to a village called Earl Sterndale, and the roads get worse up there!!
I'm in the process of buying an Mtech 1 also, so hopefully i can tackle those roads in my new BMW!
Any pics of your car? I may have seen you around.
Also, i'd like to see some pics, to get me in the mood for my (hopefully) 325i sport mTECH 1

Ignore that request for pics Jay-T!
I just realised that you've posted on my thread!
Where abouts in Stockport are you?

some of the experts may be along soon but I would be going for some decent quality discs (can't think of a make at the moment) but just grooved will do, no need for drilled, get either some redstuff pads or some ferodo ds2500 pads, they are quite dusty though. Also, do a brake fluid change. Although clearly you had given your brakes a good cooking here, a lot of fade and mushy pedal is caused by fluid boiling, often when water is in the system and the water boils causing the mushy pedal.

I'm in Gatley.
I'd definitely ike to have a closer look at your sport just to familiarise myself with them, as i'm new to E30's, got a slow 318 e36!
Thanks for the offer, i'm fully comp so that should cover me shouldn't it?
Anyway, if i get this one i'm looking at, we'll have to meet up and compare and swap hints and tips, but i think you'd have more knowledge than me!!

Cheers for that, to be honest I did think about the fluid, but it was at the back of my mind at the time, I really do need to change it before my road trip. As brake fade is the last thing I need at 130+mph on the autobahn.
So I'm gonna try for DOT 5.1 ATE Blue fluid and some proper disc's.
front and rear.

How's the sport for fuel economy?
How much is a full tank and how many miles do you get out of it?

I think I have seen your car around on the A6. I'm sure of it. My good mate owns FM3CARS (BMW) indy and I sure I've seen your car drive past as I am there most weekends sorting stuff out for him.
Not many red cars with white wheels knocking around.

Folks, it seem that the thread is getting off topic abit, I really need the answer to my brakes issue...
I have a euro trip which I have been planning for nearly 1 year now, and I really want to make the most of it.
Anyone with experience of such trips and under the conditions that I will most likly face please reply.
This is a thread for advice (from those in the know)
Cheers
Jay-T

Yep thats right. Facing the "Pee-Shoot" dealer. My mate is opening a BMW styling and Accessories shop next door and wants me to go into business with him.
So keep a look out as there will be a new accessories shop opening soon.

Sort of, had most of the e36 range and the e30 was just a project car. I normally on the e36coupe.com site mostly.
As i do Buy repair and break BM's when I can so there is alot that I do now about them.
But I dont tend to advertise.
The tech 1 is a great car, rebuilt it over 8-9 months, and going to take it on a euro trip. But I need good brakes as I over cooked mine the other night over the Whaley Bridge pass.
But only really had 3 good replies so far, and those seem to be the expensive choice of brakes.
But I will get them anyway. gonna go for EBC's anf Brembo disc's and braided hoses.
(I'm sure I spoke to you on here when I fist joined up)
