Non-BMW Bucket Seats

Hi Guys, one thing that buugs me about my 318is is that the sports seats squeek (only when I sit in them, not the wife). I have in the past considered some aftermarket bucket seats that would be comfy enough to use on a daily basis. Just had a quick flick through Ebay and found there to be LODAS, for a price that seems pretty reasonable and I was just wondering what everyone thought of these or any experiences?.

£140 for a pair

There are loads more. I understand that you need to buy runners to fit the E30, how much do these cost or will one of the UNIVERSAL mounts these companies talk about do the job?.

Also what happens with the seat belt?, I know the e30 belt is actually attached to the seat base, would a harness set be required and where do they bolt?.

Any advice, tips or even thoughts appreceiated, this is on my list to do and I'd like to start looking into it now.

Cheers

Not sure how the seatbelt would work with aftermarket seats, but I've read on other forums that a full harness is best used only in a caged car as it holds the driver in place which is a problem if the roof comes in whereas the standard three point would let him/her move about a bit more to avoid neck injury.

The second set look nice , but then so do the sport seats! and your car does look mint in the avatar........ :)

Hi Ian, they look mint, so what's involved in that, guessing the rear seat is gone?, how much did you pay (and also for bases), Also do the belts bolt onto the floor of the car or do they continue to attach to the seats (as with the existing 3 point)?.

Cheers Mate.

hi bud right first of all not much envlolved m8 i was lucky enuff to do a deal with a good lad on here who wanted a nice half leather recaro interior so we done a straight swap however i belive the seats are around 400 for a pair nowadays and harnesses probably another 100 not 100% on it but i will say its a vv nice setup theyre sidewinders too so you can tilt far back and forth cars stripped though bud i just took the rear seat belts out then i use them holes in the rear to bolt the harnesses down to the rear of the car theyre very well in place the bases are meant for the e30 they come from demon tweeks and they bolt to your original holes in the floor where your original seat bolts down!! all in all a piece of piss and a great result...if you need any more info m8 just pm me thanks ian.
