Some kind person has nicked my M3's grill badge breaking the grill in the process.
Very pleasant of them.
Just looked up on C3 for prices of the grill and badge and there seems to be a few differing options for the grill.
The standard E30 headlight grill is listed separately to the M3 headlight grill. Does anyone know if they are actually different? If so how?

The size of the openning between the slats varies depending on the size of the engine (195 vs 215 hp), and options (ie A/C).

Sounds like I need to check mine then and find out exactly which version it is that I need.
I know the Sport Evo ones are different too but know I don't need that one.
Guess I should change my avatar too. It should have a nice black hole where the badge used to be

Only the sport Evo has different grills. All the Other e30s are much the same.
IE 325i side grills are the same as all other E30 M3 grills except for the SE.

i'd love to see pics of the 2 side by side.
i've got an m3 and have never noticed any difference between grilles. even if there is a difference you'd probably have to be an anally retentive parts number spotter to tell the difference.
IF there is a difference i'd just go to a scrappy and pick up both sides from a standard e30 for a few quid so they matched because even if there is a difference it's so small i doubt anyone would notice.
unless is a concours sport evo or something, then it'd be origional all the way.

Well the side grills are the same, but the centre grill is M3 only. BMW made a special one for the SE it has thinner veins.

This is the M3 Cabrio with 215hp, and no A/C. You can se the width of the opennings etween kidney and headlights. This is substantially wider than on my wifes 325ic with A/C.

Cheers,
Jim

Yes but the US M3 is very different to the European ones.
Im not really sure how i can prove it.
BMW specify the same side grills for the E30 M3 as they do for the E30 325i in Europe.

Mine is a European E30 M3 Cabrio...these were not issued in North America.
However my wife's 325ic is Canadian. So, perhaps you are right that all European grills are the same except SE version.
Cheers,
Jim

I don't think it's an E30/E30 M3 difference thing, I've seen a few different types of grill, some with more blanking than others, probably varies depending on age of the car when different suppliers would be used.

Hey thanks! It's still only at 7,300 miles and tucked away now until next spring.
I remove bumpers and steam cleaned the undercarriage periodically. Definately a garage queen.
Cheers,
Jim
