The one in the link is not a genuine one, the genuine BMW dog guard is combined in the rear load cover, and retracts.

FAB had a red tourer in recently with one.
Don't know if they've still got it or what they want for it, but going by the price they paid for the car (over twice my top bid), it won't be cheap.

BMW wouldnt force it under headling to secure it surely.......could be used to secure your saggy touring headling though

Thats what I have but I just thought they might have made a more solid one.

Whats this item then?

I won this on ebay last week and it hasn't arrived yet but the seller claims its a genuine BMW one which mounts in the same place as the retractable dog guard.

It doesn't look well made enough to be a genuine BMW item, but i don't care as it only cost £7.55

I don't think that the retractable guard was really intended for dogs. I think that it was more to keep items stacked in the boot from flying forward in panic stops. A (very bad) dog could probably just chew through the mesh. I think there there was an optional metal grate that hung from the ceiling hooks.

I asked the dealer about dog guards. The first thing he came back with was a solid metal mesh type guard for about £120 (I'm pretty sure, it was a few months ago). It was still in stock too. I asked him about the combined load cover/blind and he said it was NLA. I also got the impression that the metal guard was for dogs rather than the luggage net.
