koni or h&R ?

thinking about going for either one of these kits, 325 setup for my m30 conversion.
I want to know what you fella's think regarding these kits, if youve had them fitted to you car etc.. and can you tell me the best between the two. Please dont comment if your only going by "the name" these two brands are as good as eachother, so im told. with the konis you have the extra advantage of top adjusting, for hard / soft ride. but with the h&r kit shocks are just matched so im led to believe. (i may be wrong). I really only want to lower the car 40mm as i feel the weight of the m30 will be more than enough to push it down an extra 10mm at the front

(i hope)! I might drop it 60mm all around though and make the arches fit if you get me...

9j rims are gonna catch like a bitch either way.
Right... what should i spend £400 on.... KONI kit or H&r Cupkit?
thanks everyone

Hi buddy, I have the adjustable kni's on my 327i.
I really like the adjustability, you'd be able to compensate for the heavier M30 with these as well.
They can be set from reasonably firm to absolutely rock solid (where it feels like the tyre side-walls are doing the shock absorbing).
The only negative I have with them is that the rears aren't top adjustable, you have to remove the bottom mounting bolt then pull down a rubber and a plastic washer then fully compress the shock and turn it to adjust

.
Otherwise it's a brilliant setup.
They're £320 ish in the zone shop BTW.
Cheers,
Iain T

If we are talking about different makes then the KW set I have are very hard, probably too hard for most people. I dont know what the kit is but its probably more of a track set up rather than fast road.
If you have fillings its probably not the kit for you

That's with the old sachs gas dampers and 320i skinny front struts.
I'm still using the eibach pro-kit springs that were on when that pic was taken.

You'll be able to get the Cup kit but not sure on the Koni's.
Why is no one taking into consideration the KW suspension kits?? These are excellent aswell and a little cheaper than the H&R's.

sal i pm'd you dude asking for help but i got nothing back from you, that was about 4 days ago now
I need a setup that will allow me to go quite low for the euro look, but at the same time, the shockers must be firm enough to stop the car from bouncing the arches onto my tyres.. i know coilovers are the best option but at this moment in time i dont have £1000 to spare

Ive also gotta take into consideration of the extra weight thats gonna be up front... Idealy i want to drop it 40mm and im hoping the extra little weight from the m30 lump will push the springs down a little more to acheive a 50mm drop (crossed fingers) either way if it stays at a 40mm drop it wont be too bad.
on the rear there is no way on earth ill get my 9j's under the arch with a 60mm unless i have really heavy arch mods, but it would look awsome at the same time. For practiclality, a 40mm will be just enough i think. How good are the kw shocks sal, firm enough?

If your bunging a big ol M30 under the bonnet id have nothing less than adjustables Twigg.
Ive just fitted some inverted Billies to the front of mine and they are a hundred times better than the standard 325i Gas Bilsteins, even though they were brand new 3 months ago the front end had more 'bounce' than it should

adjustable shocks dan? i had the spax ones last time and they were really poo. i just hope they will be better than the spax setup. this is why im not so quick to lash my cash out so quick, like i did before. i want the right stance, not too high and certainly not to low. 9j's are a pain in the ass but i can work around that. i just want to make sure 40mm is low enough with my rims, dont want no nasty black holes inbetween my tyres and arch

Mine are 60/40.Front sits just right for me with 2.5 lump in there. Rear has bout 15mm between tyre and arch, i'd rather have it lower , but it might give u enuf clearance 4 u r 9's.
