Superchips-E30 318i

Hi guys,
I would be interested to hear from anyone out there who has a 318i & has fitted a superchip to it. I have been doing a bit of research into it, I believe you gain 8 bhp if a chip is fitted. I am interested to know, where in the rev range this gain is made, is there any improvement in torque output? If so, where in the range is it felt? If there is any loss at the bottom end, I probably will not bother with it. I am more concerned with drivabilty around town, I don't want to lose any torque from the bottom end.
Is there any improvement in mpg after fitting a chip?
