I have just got a set of rear light from Germany clear over red, but thay dont fit asked the firm if thay should and got the thums up.
How can you tell the diffrence between a pre and post face lift E30, mine has chrome bumbers, was there a set date that the change over took place, could I have one that is stuck in the middle of the two ???
thanks chris.

cabs are all messed up mate. I think you probably want the early lights on a g plater to be honest. the facelift lights on cabs arent too common if I'm being honest from 1990 was the changeover on the cab I think?

Hi
Chrome bumpers are pre face lift and plastic are post.
Also check the fog lights square=pre Half moon ish style=post
They changed in 1988 to the new style but i think the cab changed at a later date not sure when but someone will be along to tell you soon

Dont quote me on this but would have thought any cab with crome bumpers would have been pre- facelift.

I think Bob S in right about the cabs being "messed up" my 1990 H plate has plastic bumpers and pre-face lift rear lights.

Yeah cabs are a mix match of parts - well rear lights anyway. Ive seen a number of late cabs with pre-facelift lights and some with facelift lights.
IIRC someone on here said its because BMW were using up all of the left over lights as the E30 production was coming to an end.

I rarely see a cab which is actually in keeping with the tourings and saloons, I think it's only the design cab that I see around here

I have yet to see a cab with the later rear lights, even stevetiggers cab, J plate, has the early rear lights.

Seen both sets of lights on j plate, late lights on K plate.
Chap with early lights and plastic bumpers will probably find the bumpers are painted metal ones.
