your bank will be able to do it. (for a fee)
I used WORLDPAY in my local HSBC, and it cost £9 on top of the amount being sent.
you need :
the recipients name
account number
bank name
and amount

Absolute pain in back side !! I've done it several times. You will need all the bank details, address, account etc + the IBAN number. Fill in a form at your bank and let them do the rest and charge you for the privelidge !
If there is an easier and quicker way , i'de be glad to know it

If you must use a bank to bank transfer (Paypal is cheaper), get the IBAN number from the person (or company) you're paying. Take this number and the all the details of the other bank along with the other persons account details into your bank and then they do it!
Do not use the old system called Swift, very expensive and slow!
Charges vary and by EC law they've not allowed to charge any more for sending to Europe then sending to a local UK bank. Of course, what they charge to change pounds into Euros is up to them!
Last time I sent money into Europe, I just brought travellers cheques in the name of the person I was paying and popped them into the post. I didn't, however need any traceability, the money was going to a friend. If you're buying something (German Ebay?) then you'll need proof that the money has "arrived" so stick with the IBAN or Paypal.

I was thinking paypal too!
Would be a hell of a lot cheaper!
But it depends on how much is being transfered!
Doesnt paypal have a limit??

Iban stands for international bank account number .. it's not a payment system.
Bank transfers will still go through Swift.
So just ask for the guys Swift address for his bank and his Iban nr.
But beware .. most germans are honest ... I have bought 2 things from there via ebay .. paid the money and nothing arrives. Don't even get an reply back from ebay regarding my claims - they only give a f*ck about things bought with paypal.
I work for a bank and have to say the options available by uk banks for international payments is just crap.
Over here you can do them online in seconds.

Bank transfer is a fcukin arse. I did one about a week ago and it has come back as they are saying the details i have given are incorrect, and i lost out on my fee about £30.
the best solution is paypal but the germans dont accept it from the UK for some reason so i would recommend western Union. open an account with them and they will charge less and its alot easier.
