Just interested to know if anyone has or knows of anyone on the zone who has a 320is. I ask because i may buy one as an alternative to a 325is. Does anyone know of somebody that imports them, I remember reading about someone who deals in them, this was ages ago and i cant remember where i saw the article. Are they as good to own as the 325 and what are servicing, parts etc like on cost. Look foward to hearing your comments.

I own one....

I have had it for Four years nearly, and it has been my everyday driver since then, that includes sitting in London traffic in the heat of this summer just past to driving to France and back for a weeks skiing in the Cold.

I dont know how to compare it to a 325 as I have never owned one. Fuel economy is probably around the same, the only difference is going to be the price for all the running gear as this is M3 only and is not exactly cheap!!
If you are going to buy one you should spend around £4000 + for a nice example that should not need any drastic work. I bought mine for £4000 in 2002 with 64000KM (40000miles) on the clock, they are a bit more dear now.

I would say that for road driving the 325 is probably more useful with the extra torque, but any other roads/track work the 320is would be better. Mostly due to the fact it has a lighter engine...... not by much but every little helps.

My car is also perfectly happy transporting 4 people with luggage just got to keep the revs up!

I dont know if I missed anything out but if you want more info let me know and I will write more up on this thread.

Lastly, if I had £4-5000 I would much prefer to buy a 320is. Just some reasons, If it has just come from Italy or Portugal then it wont have any rust compared to a 325, It is much rarer that a 325 also rarer than an M3 but we wont go there.

Have a look at this link for info..... http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=10

Hope this helps

Luke

Cheers for info and comments guys, It was my dad who suggested a 320is imported, id never really thought about it, The reason ive started to now is bacause of the condition, because they wont have seen much salt on the roads. Also they're abit different. Dont think i'll be getting one though as they're out of my price range, Should have realised they'd cost abit more than a 325 sport. Im looking at spending about 3-3.5k tops, Plus im still trying to shift my current car. Looks like i'll stick to lucking for a trusty 325. Thanks anyway guys.
