Coming home friday night the roads were white and slippy.I wasnt going fast at all.Came out of a bend and I knew something was wrong. The car just kept going towards a ditch, I tried to steer away but nothing happened. So I ended up in the ditch!300 yards of clear ditch and I hit the only rock A massive rock that curbed one of my chrome wheels and bent the door, the pillar and most of the drivers side bodywork!!So I lifted it out in the morning with a jcb and drove it home. The one front wheel is curbed but useable so I will have to get another wheel. My powerflow exhaust is fine but the drivers side of the shell is mangled!I took pictures and will get them up when I can.So Im looking for another 2 door 318i.Just going to swap my bits over to it.Im scrapping the rest of the crashed 318i and keeping the bits i need.Going to look at one on sat if its still there.Im mortified!!Only had the car for 5 weeks!!

Yeah thing is I was being careful but obviously not careful enough. Im going to look at an e reg. red 318i with a kit and lots more on sat if itÔš's still there. Plus is it a big job to stick my 318i engine into a 316i??Just another option.

i don't think so...but whether its worth it is another point?? even swapping to a 320i many people will tell you not to bother and wait till you can do a 325i!

Hmm Id like to keep with a 1.8 because at the moment its all I can insure and I really dont want to drop down to the 1.6.No offence I am sure it is good fun but I dont want to drop down to it for some reason.Cant insure a 2 litre at the moment.Im just gutted to be honest because it was such a nice example and it cost me hardly anything. You never know what you had till its gone!!

happened to me also a while ago, my fault though
got a bit larey on a back road in the snow...and ended up curling it into the kerb

ouch
only superficial damage but the feeling of that first ding on perfect rims hurts dude, like i lost a friend that day
luckily i was with my "boss bro" from the bodyshop (was why i was givin it i think

)
anyway i got it done fixed for gratis..lucky me
Lesson learned.

Sorry to hear that

At least you're ok thats the main thing, and you have the car to take the bits off. When I stacked my 325i the police decided to remove it at about 1.30am, despite the fact I called them earlier and they said as no one else was involved they wern't getting involved and it was up to me to sort.
Never saw the thing again

Had loads of bits on it too that the insurance wouldnt let me have or pay out extra for

Sorry to hear about it James
Got the whole "sketchy" story from your mum today.
Does that mean you've got some "goodies" for me.

Thanks for being nice about this guys and not accusing me of being an idiot for driving in snow.I probably shouldnt of but I did.Yeah if you need any bits dave just tell me and I will have a look.I have two to break now!!Theres a red 318i old style with a kit that Im going to look at if its still there.Got lots of bits and goodies on it.At least my powerflow exhaust is fine and only 1 of the wheels got curbed. It's foing to cost me about 200quid for a new wheel and tire!!The other one can be used as a spare. So everything except for my alloys, exhaust and suspension is available cos Im keepin my goodies and just transferring them to the other car.Cant wait to get another one though!!
