E30 Zone

To all E30 zonners

The isle of man is an amazin little island in the middle of the Irish sea where most of our roads are De-restricted {drive as fast as you dare go none of this seventy stuff} and we have the famous TT course which is a blast to drive round. The only problem over here is there just isn't enough E30 drivers 5 of us but whos counting. I was just wonderin if at some point in the near future some of you guys would like to come over here and get a meet toghether? My friend and myself will be comin to your meets over there soon.


Any replies or thoughts welcome

i will be over there for the TT as i am every year, but i was actually planning a weekend road trip there at some point! sounds like a plan

We was planning a trip last year before the cxar went off the road but never happened in the end

Its a place I'd love to visit with the sport... I dont know would I make it on and off the boat though with the 60/40 drop!

That sounds like an offer to arrange a zone meet there!

Gettin on and of the boat is no prob. my mate took me over to darlington the other week in his 325 to pick up my 325 and his is lowered 60mm no probs.

There are some really good campsite over here and not to far away from are local un-used airfield where we hold trackdays and if we were to get enough cars interested are local organisers would hold an event on thr weekend if we ask nicely enough.

Gonna speak to one of the other E30 drivers over here who is good at organising events and see what we can put together.

do you ever see clarksons gt40 driving about?

I'd be up for this lads! I was thinking of tripping across soon, looked at putting it together last week, how long to go for etc.. got a week left of holidays...

As E30iman has said it would be great to see a fleet of E30 zoners over on our wonderful island and I'm sure I can arrange a E30 track day on our airfield track, there is a map on my website so have a look but basically 1.5 miles long (1min 12 sec) to get a lap.

I will start to get the information on accomodation and also ferry prices and get us a deal together. I'm back on 7th Sept so I'll get onto it then.

Keep the discussion going - perhaps set up in the future events section to get some more coverage? Only an idea...

I was over in douglas at the end of june with work and i have to say i'd defo be up for a meet over there. such a nice place

This is the map of the Jurby race Track on the Isle of Man. It's a dissused Airfield now used for trackdays for cars and bikes, also there's a seperate Karting track. My E30 325 can get to 115mph on the back straight

It's really worth a visit to this track and to drive on the 36 mileTT course over the mountain road, sweeping long bends, goose neck turns and great straights and no Gatso's

Id love to take my bike to the isle of man, and a visit to the tt is a must

My dad is doing the Manx this year, crazy old fool. I've always said i'll take a 325i over there and him and his mates can leave all their stuff in the car and i will come!

sounds like a good idea to me, ive allways wanted to go to the man, especially when its nearly on my door step, apparently a most beautiful place , an even better if theres a chance to thrash the car around.








been meaning to go for a while now they run a ferry service from my town every year but its for foot passengers only, but its an historical thing an the boats look well dodgy so ive allways give it a miss.

So there are the rough costs plus your drinking and eating money
So you have the track day and you get to drive for free on the islands roads with no gatso sh1t in sight.
This visit will be one that you won't forget - for good reasons

Is it true what Clarkson said on top gear, there are no speed limits but you can get done for "furious driving".

Correct - No speed limits outside the villages and yes you can get done for furious driving. Clarkson has a house here as his wife's Manx.

So to confirm that's NO SPEED LIMITS OR GATSO SPEED CAMERAS on the Isle of Man

How many more reasons do you need to come over here?!?!?!

Anyone else want to come to 'Top Gears Fantasy Island??' That's what Richard Hammond called it when he drove my pals E30 M3 over here in 2003... come on you know it makes sense

Fri 7pm and Sun 3pm suits me fine, I'm up for it, dont do camping tho, B&B all the way.

P.S How long does it take to sail there from Liverpool?

2 and a lf hours. boat is okay not rough got a bar and diner shop etc

this is a great idea lads, similar prioces on the boats from Dublin so I'd be interested, prefere June or July though

well seeing as on the Isle of Mans (and please correct me if I am wrong) you can still be sentenced in court to a "birching" I'd be keeping my licence clean if I were you

I'm into s&m, birching sounds fun.

You now have to pay to be birched - that's privatisation for you!!!

You won't forget the trip, it's a place like no other under the British isles logo - come on guys get you E30's over - PRONTO!!

I believe the "furious driving" charge dates back to when people used horses !

As for the birching, i understand that if your caught in a "gay act" you can be birched...and having been nicked for speeding over there i can tell you your vehicle will be impounded on the spot and you will be in court the next morning...with a hefty fine...so keep the speed to the un restricted areas.

As Llyodie says, there is no where on earth like the IOM, the mountain section is scarey fast and a real ass clencher...the winds howling, you cant hear your engine note, its very easy to mis judge your speed up there

a lot of corners open up and you wished you'd gone in faster but then you hit the tighter ones and wish you'd gone in slower

Ive never felt such relief in my life after completing an early morning lap and coming down off the mountain...and i include numerous track days and speed trials in that statement

Sounds a bit morbid but it seems like you are left to your own devices, trusted to be responsible and not crash on these unrestricted roads. It would be interesting to see how it compares to the mainland figures.

I'm willing to bet you have better/safer statistics than we do.

Try and avoid the TT fortnight - end May begining of June (ish) as the Ferry company called 'The Steam Packet' ROB the money from the pockets of island residents and visitors alike, the Steam packet or Steam Racket as they are known here are owned by an investment company and are the longest running ferry company in the world..why I hear you ask...BECAUSE they have the monolopy on the IoM - no competition so they charge the earth / what they want.

Deals can be done so keep on at them buy take your own food as the smallest cooked breakfast in the world will set you back £8.00
