17 inch Avez Rims - There FINALLY ON :-)

Basically my friend and i have bought some 17 inch Avez Rims and these are in quite good condition, but we have problems, and hopefully you guys can help.

The et is 33 on these rims and the spokes are just catching the Brake caliper. :x :x
So our option are as follows: -
1) Keep them and use spacers and modify the wheels so they fit (been quoted ?175 for this)
2) Sell them and buy some others with the right offset.

Also out how much should we be expecting to pay for some 17 Inch Avez rims, as these are they wheels we are wanting to put onto the car.
I have checked the For Sale section but no-one puts prices up.

All help appreciated.

£175 for spacers...? You got to be kidding! More like £40 from halfords...

The spacers are hub centric (think thats the word) and the price also includes boring the centres of the rims so they fit perfectly.

Hmm... seems a bit of a ball ache and lots of money just to fit some rims on. What were they off...? A Mk2 Golf or something?

not sure what hubcentric spacers are. Mine bolted on to the hub with 4 holes for the wheel to be bolted onto the spacer too.

Had crappy halfrauds style ones before and my car used to snap wheel bolts. New ones are perfect. Can't remember where I picked them up from but a bit of googling should net you the results. Why do the wheels need to be modified?

hub centrics have a lip that sits inthe spigot recess made for those plastic rings that come with some alloys

as the name implies, the spacer is kept in exact circumference with the hub, and so no wheel wobble as found on some spacer systems as the spacer is off center.

the reason he has to bore is because the hub diameter won´t allow for the spacer ring to go on, so he´ll need to get that machined out so he can have the hub centric on there..

seems like a ot of fussin to me

Right looks like my mate and i are going to need to have a chat.

Regarding the Halfrauds ones, i would not touch them. The spacers need to be HubCentric, as the plan is for the Avez Rims to be used on a Track from time to time.

So if we were to get rid of the rims then how much would do 17 inch Avez rims go for???

i'm assuming they came off a golf, as the PDC is 100 and et 33. (if anyone can confirm this it would be great)

Thanks a lot for the infomation you guys have given, its been apprecited.

Cheers Johnono....

Update: -
The Price of £175 includes the following,
Machining the wheel centres (4 rims)
4 Hubcentric Spacers
Brand New Longer Wheels Bolts.

Still sound expensive?

your paying about £125 to get them machined then mate, i personally dont know if thats expensive but it does seem a little excessive to me... a fly wheel can be done for £30 :?

then again i dont think it sounds to bad but it depends on how much this would then take the total cost of the rims up to! azev's are not that expensive mate but a bugger to get hold of at times!

not really

10 / 15mm spacers £75 with the bolts

25 a wheel machining..

works out @ cost

25 a wheel is a bit much though.

Its basically
£95 for Spacers & Bolts
£80 to bore all the centres of the rims. £20 each

I think the figures sound about right.
He's also given us a great price on 215/40/17 Yoko Parada Spec 2 too......

I'll keep you all updated on the progress made.

Edit:- Johnono you on the Darkside forum? think i reckonise that car in the sig pic.

if the spokes are catching the brake calipers you really only need a wheel spacer shim of about 3mm to clear the calipers. That will in effect give you a 30mm offset and you can use your standard bolts. Plus a a pair will only set u back £10 max! So why on earth are you gonna waste money machining to fit on?

Reason being that the Avez's will be used on a track. So if i do the job it gets done properly.

I have had experience of small spacers on my e36 when it had 19 inch rims. it was fine for 90% of the driving i did, but i never felt i could PUSH the car how i wanted.

Sharabi,

I had the same problem with my first set of Azev's too, they caught the caliper, I bought some spacers and used them, maybe i bought some shite ones, as it didn't feel like the car was driving correct, with them on, they had to go and so did the rims.
I had the same et too, as the ones you have.
To solve the probelm proper I bought another set of Azev's, for quite a sweet price too winkeye

The car looks sweet bud, any centre caps?

option 3 sell them and buy some proper sized wheels for e30's that look better and dont risk ruining the handling ride etc. Sorry but it has to be said.

yup maybe, but the wheels are on now, they look great
the cars running fine, no handling or ride issues. so i'm happy.

Also @ pnd, how would proper sixed e30 Avez rims differ from those that are on there?

@ Pal318is, yeah mate i got all the centre caps, but am waiting on some proper locks for the caps.

Yeah i was unsure of the splitter to be fair to begin with, but my mate wanted it on, i just thought fair enough as its his daily driver.

Now with the rims on it i really do like it, its different from the standard Mtech stuff.
