There are two new wings that still need to be sprayed, thats why they are still black

Amazing, the wings are black because they are not sprayed, I'd never had guessed!

So it's a '84 323, fitted with a 2.5 engine, re-shelled into a 1987 inwards body, registered on an Irish plate......

This car is a modern classic buy now before the rush.

Omg, thats terrible. I think someone with the knowlege should ask a question on there along the lines of
"Did you know that this car is a ringer or are you just playing dumb?"

That's more of a ringer than Big Ben. It's in Pikey-Central, too (Burnley), what a surprise.

If anyones interested just got this reply from seller.

Car is a 323i but head cracked, was cheaper to put a second hand 325i engine in than get a new head. Car is still down as being a 2.3 litre.
I hope this information is what you were after. Stiill woulnt touch it.

It's a facelift shell, though; so it can't be a 323i unless it's been re-shelled.

So, it's had a new shell, and a new engine. This is like the old road-sweeper's joke about his old broom having three new heads and two new handles!

This is what he told me.

The car is a 1984 323i, it is how I bought it, I checked all the numbers on the original engine and VIN plate before I got it and everything checked out ok. I think the person who had it before swapped a lot of bits over and thats why there is an Irish number plate on it, so nobody knows that it is 1984. If you need to know anything else please ask.

What he has covered up in the picture is a truck, you can see the bottom of it, so people don't know where its parked and go and pinch it, sensible if you ask me.

Has no one else in this forum ever reshelled a damaged car that was their pride and joy?

I went to see the vehicle last night, its rust free underneath and it clearly has had an engine fitted as he has receipts and the origional engine (323).
Every thing matches the logbook, there are no signs of ringing anywhere on the car or chasis plate.

So what if it has new wings and has been reshelled at some time in the past, thats not illegal as far as I know.

Leave the Guy alone he's just selling a cheap unorigional BMW with a sound engine and shell, whats wrong with that?

Come on give him a break.

Thats fair enough Sandy. So did you buy it?

Re:

Sandy did the Vin plates look "moved" :o

Posted: Tue Aug 01, 2006 5:28 pm
by sandy33
Not yet, as its on ebay and he says he will not remove it as other people have remove stuff from ebay he was bidding in the past and its not fair to diadvantage other people. Its not origional, but there is not rust underneath. Im still very interested though as its cheap and the new engine sounds sweet. Reconditioned gearbox with receipts too.

As I mentioned earlier, just because a car has been reshelled does not mean its a ringer. The experts may have noticed the alloys are off another model too, but don't we all buy later alloys?

Nice bloke with a love of BMW's particulary the 325's, he has a mint touring model with full BMW history as his replacement vehicle. Another Ebay bargain.

As another member commented "seen better in a scrap yard", I wish I knew which scrap yards he goes to, they must all be ringers!

This is a cool forum with lots of friendly owners don't spoil it by dis'in a fellow owner as thats not cool.

Well got to say mate the fact he wont remove from ebay is refreshing.
Fair play to him.

Re:

In reply to Jon_Bmw question of "Sandy did the Vin plates look "moved" the answer is no they looked moved and I inspected the entire panel and underneath, the panel was undamaged and has not been re-painted from my close inspection, this a good thing to check when buying any E30.

One thing to mention is that the sevice history shows a BMW recall letter requesting a recall for the coolant cap I think, this official letter also showed the VIN number. Wouldn't BMW know if it was a ringer or altered VIN plate as the service history also shows that it attended the recall and had a new coolant cap installed.

Obviously my above reply should say "no they did not look moved". Beer love it, but no good for helping my english.

He's added more pictures to Ebay, the hidden object is a truck I was correct, you can see it on the front view picture behind, the red trailer in the top right.

It's better that spot the difference.

I still cant see how it was a 323 all 323's where pre facelift which had diffrent rear lights for a start. So it must of had a new rear panal, new front lower panal, the bumbers changed.

Who cares it probably been reshelled in a later shell, new wings maybe some bumpers and lights for a later model, all parts are available from a scrap yard. Its a good car, checks out as legal, but far for origional.

But cheap!

Sounds ok to use to get to work.
