waiting on insurance company to get back to me - however if its 60% of the value of the car they will write it off.
car is only worth £4k, so will have to wait and see.

I dont think we should call the guy a w@nker.. Accidents happen. He left his card so he's a decent bloke. Almost restores faith in people (not their driving though).
Real pain in the sh!tter for you mate. Lovely car. Just go to a top notch repair place and get it done perfectly.
I'm sure you're gutted all the same, I would be. Good luck with getting it sorted man.

I can't see the body work being any more than £1500, the wheels & tyre will add to this, was the car insured as modified? if not they will only fork out for the cost of 'standard' parts, you'll have to make up the difference....
A private garage will probably fix it for £800...
Hope it all works out OK

sorry to be a sh!t stirrer, but isnt it an offence to park that close to a junction? (same goes to the cars in the background?) (Highway code, section 217: do not stop opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction)

yep, he would have been the opposite side of the impact very difficult driving when cars parked each side

The car is completely standard... its how it rolled out the factory... they are nice arn't they!
as for parking near a junction, well there were no road markings around and have parked there before. Anyway, I'm gutted and so was the guy who hit it as i spoke to him a few minutes ago... he was really p1ssed off as he could see the car was well looked after!

just get some estimates dude, they may offer to pay for it straight out rather than use the insurers as excess is usually huge on fleet policies and the ratings shoot through the roof when claims get made against the policy
A rare situation though with him leaving his details, credit where it's due
Does there appear to be any damage behind the panels, looks like it needs bumper & trim, wing, indicator unit, wheel & tyre. If you are wanting to keep the car and also keep any redcord of the damage off insurer databases/ HPi etc then consider offering to use second hand parts for the repair (but get a quote with OE new parts too) so as to guarantee it not being a w/o or on hpi, especially if the HGV owner will sort you direct and avoid insurers = no record.

but take it to someone who will take there time and do the job properly watever you do it seems nowadays theres alot of wankers willing to take money and do fuck all but bend a few panels and spray it shit!

hmm not quite sure what makes you think he is polish... though i've lost count on how many of them have nearly put me into the central reservation!
As for the write off issue, your car may well be "only" a P plate and the insurance will try to fob you off with a cheque. But your car looks extremely well cared for and is worth more than their bottom book insult.
Get onto autotrader.co.uk, e36coupe.com etc etc find car's similar to yours, print out the adverts and phone them up and tell them you have proof of how much they are going for.
Thats what I did with my rover and they increased their initial offer of £900 to £1500. Hopefully it will persuade them to think its worth repairing.

Ok, have heard from insurance and they are now having to strip the front of the car down to assess the extent of the damage... I really hope they repair it, it took me ages to find a decent sport with no mods and good condition.
Thanks for the kind words guys, yes i do keep it clean and its recently come back from 1000 round trip to Le Mans where it got raped to within an inch of its life... dont you love it when you dont feel bad about caning your motor, because you feel happy that it will take it no probs!
have been looking through the trader and prob £400- £4500 will get me another one, however in the last year I've spent over £1000 on it, such as 4 new tyres (2 weeks ago), 4 wheels full refurb, pair of lower arms, ball joints, track rod ends, MOT - years tax, front brakes etc etc, Also just serviced.
I assume they will take this into consideration when valuing (mis spelt) it.
The compnay that hit it, was Wolseley Building supplies in Hinchley Wood, they are a big company and i have their claim number. With a bit of luck it will be sorted shortly.
I'll keep you posted

Car looked really nice and clean. In my experience, these bodyshops that undertake insurance work often have so much work on they're forced to rush. Keep a close eye on the work and do not settle for rushed work. Alternatively my engine bay would make a lovely home for that 2.8

!!!

doubt that will be a write off from the looks off it, think its repairable, have u got any pics on the inside engine bay? Least the driver left a card, very rare for someone to do that.
