replacing sport seat options

greeting from over here in Canada.

wondering whether i should get my drivers seat redone or if there are any good options which fit into the e30 without much modification...? the leather has worn out and i've found a reputable place who can redo the damaged sections and re dye the whole interior, but before i commit i'm wondering what my options are.

I certainly wouldn't want anything below the quality, comfort and support of the current sport seats, but maybe some unfortunate sole destroyed his/her e36 m3 but the seats are sellable and fit (for example)...

:D

E36 M3 seats are by all accounts a real bitch to fit into an e30. It really depends what you are after. If you want racing style seats, recaro still make seats very similar to the evo sport M3 seats.

If comfort is more your thing, you could try to get hold of a standard e30 M3 interior, this would fit no probs.

Go for the E30 M3 leather seats. I put these in my car, and they are so so comfy, above the comfort of the sports seats i have sat in before.

Oh, and E36 front seats mean drilling holes in your floor im told.

e30 m3 seats (excluding the sport evo) and bmw sport seats are exaclty the same in every way other than the way the cloth is stiched

you could always go for some genuine recaro highbacks, they are quite similar to sport/m3 seats but are much more comfy

You learn something new every day. I always assumed normal e30's had different seats.

nope, as far as i'm aware, the front seats are the same between m3's (excluding sport evo) and sports/iS its onyl the material and stitching patterns that differ

comfort seats are different again i think

Ah ok, so the sport seats were probably an option on all 3 series and standard on 318is/325 sport and m3's

Every days a school day :D

M3 seats only have 2 seats in the back! Sport ones have 3, and use the same rear bench as any black leather interior. I think the sport seats i have sat in have had quite hard leather, perhaps why mine are more comfy :P .

My wife has sport seats in her E36 and they are the most uncomfortable seat I've ever sat in, I get numb legs after an hour or so.

However the M3 cab front seats I have in my E30 are fantastic, driving all day to the Nurburgring (700 miles) and I still feel comfortable.

I'd stick with your E30 seats and get them re-covered.

Cheers,

Iain T

THe sports seats in the E36 are different to the one's i fitted, I would suggest staying with the e30 seats unless u get some other at a good deal ie freshly leathered and supplied the seat 300 all in winkeye

i must say, even for the front seats, because of the way the m3 ones are stitches the horizontal lrger wads, as apposed t othe normal vertical, i found them more comfortable and a better quality of leather. i have compared quite a few seats..

for some reason i also found the m3 seats had better support. (leather compred to leather)

the cloth IS and cloth M3 are exactly the same.
