Nube saying hello

Hi all, I just got my 1st BMW e30 ('88 316 with 1.8 lump), dunno why I waited so long, it just feels...right! I've done the minor obligatory service myself changed the oil/air/fuel filters, coolant, replaced rear exhaust box etc and it's running well.
I plan to get the car back to it's original running condition (after it's last owner ragged it and didn't service it!) as a summer project-it's a good base to build on later on.
Bearing in mind it's been neglected and it's 18 years old, what would you recommend I adjust/replace to restore original handling and ride? I'd prefer to do the replacing myself and to a budget. I was thinking anti-roll bushes and shock-absorbers but not much else comes to mind.
Any suggestions or links to help on this site would be great
Ta muchly,
gonzobmw

welcome to the Zone fella, need to get some pics up for us to have a look,
not sure if you want to go 'back' to standard 316 suspension! There are some really tidy kits you can get which will make it even better than original!
Is it the M40 or M42 lump? Different issues I guess with different engine type (M42 was in the 318iS rather than the M40 out of a standard 318i, just incase you didn't know!)

wow! quick response! I'm in Tunbridge Wells Cliffybabe, as far as I know the engine is an M10-1766cc, carb & air filter-pretty basic but it goes!
