E30 Zone

Putting tyres on our 635csi's 17" BBS.

Going for 235/45 at front and 255/40 at rear

Interested in Pirelli P-Zeros on it but have heard some bad things about ride etc.............

Also interested in Contis / Michelin or Dunlops

Anyone got any ideas or advice

Bridgestone SO2's or SO3's... very very good tyres.

Funny eough I was going to post a tyre thread tonight as I have been quoted £312.30 at the weekend for four Fulda Extremo 205/55/15. I was told they were used as original equipment on some cars and wanted to know what people thought about them.

Continental = Nice ride, great handling, can wear out quickly depending on use.

Dunlop = Great wearing tyre, hard ride.

Michelin = Great wearing tyre, comfortable ride and very grippy .........Top of the range and very pricey



Cotty, i thought Fulda was a budget tyre, did'nt think that they would cost that much

I run Kumho on mine and they are spot on in the dry and the wet, and as they're not such a known name in the public world they are going for a good rate

i've had these, not bad at all

p-zero's are utter crap, they wear out quick. Mine did not even 8,000miles

while my F1's on the rear managed over 12,000. Both were new and went on at the same time!

I did ask the guy about F1's and he confirmed what I suspected that they didnt do them any more but suggested the Fulda's.

I dont claim a to know a lot about tyres which is why I post on threads like this to get peoples opinions

they make F1's in a 195,50,15 size.

toyo make a 205/50/15 for cheap money, £50 each. Very very good tyres! Proxy T1s or something they are called

t1-r's in 205/50 flavour are £46each from www.mytyres.co.uk

Thats what I am trying next, ordered some Toyo T1r's from www.mytyres.com, they are great, good price quote 9 days delivery and get to you within three days (well me anyway)

I had Goodyear eagle F1's on since before last summer, so they are coming up to around 10-12000 miles.

I hope they are good. Can I trust Kwik fit to do a wheel alignment on my car, the front left is completley worn on the inside which is a shame as I would not have had to change the fronts.

kwick fit wont do an e30 - they say it has to be weighted. go to a more back street one and they will more than likely do it, just watch em like i do

it's only the track rods u can adjust on a stock E30.

Are your bushes fresh/been changed recently on the front end?
Or has the car been in a smack?!

I know you can only adjust the track rod ends, the bushes have been replaced.
I new about the back tyre wear on lowered e30's but not about the front!
I am currently running the H+R cupkit with the 35mm springs, the 60/40 was way too low!!
When I got the car it was originally on 14" wheels I got some 15" with tyres and the steering was off so I adjusted the track rod ends and then when the new tyres went on forgot to do the tracking again.
I have excessive wear on the inside of the front left tyre, this could be because I installed one of the 60mm front springs upside down? There is no uneven tyre wear on the front right side after lowering, Anyway the car has not been in a smash!!
If this is the case with the lowered car I might go back to stock springs! What are the part numbers for the inverted Bilstien (sport/sprints???) shocks?
Also does anyone know, apparently the stock M3 springs are harder than the eibach 35mm springs, but are the eibach springs harder than the Mtech II springs, whats the difference between M3 and MtechII springs? Was thinking of trying the inverted billies with either eibach springs or standard Mtech II springs, for the best compromise between London roads and country roads. I will be keeping the H+R Arb's though.

All this to sort out aswell as a new clutch and the fact that my diff does not have anywhere near 25% locking abillity anymore!!!

Also I got out accelerated by a Renault Megane sport this morning!!

if the tracking hasnt been set it could cause wear on the inside of 1 tyre.. get it tracked when you get your next set of tyres

OK got another quote this time by Lepsons who are refurbishing a set of wheels for me.

First quote £42 (each fitted) but they are for a tyre called something like Maxtrax made by a big company and sold under a different name

Second quote £57 (each fitted) Dunlop SP 9000

To be honest I think im just going to go for the Dunlops

Fuldas are made by goodyear, hence the suggestion, avoid.
Conti Sports or F1's will be good on that, and by the way they do still do them, just done a stock check and we've got over 100 of eash available ;)

I misread some of the posts, you're right, goodyear don't do the eagle F1 in 205/55/15, but they do in the 17" size needed for the first bloke!

They are alright, normally good value for money but possibly slightly soft compared to goodyears, part of the same company anyway
