Hi guys,

Just wonderin whether any of you might know what alarm/immobiliser i have.

I need to know for insurance details. It was on the car when i got it and looks pretty standard. The make is Scorpion but dont know any more than that. Just thought it might have been a standard type included with most e30s? Its got remote central locking too if thats any help?

Cheers!

Nick

You might find a part/model number on the siren unit which might allow you to identify it through Scorpion.

Scorpion alarm was one of the "BMW approved" alarms fitted to E30s when they were new.
Can defeat/bypass it in about five seconds once the bonnet is open, with equipment I always carry in my glovebox!

yeah i didn't think it would be a massive deterent but i mainly like the remote central locking feature. i think the main deterent on my car is the chavtastic exhaust - i'd hear the bastard razzing off from 10 miles away!

but i take it it was therefore fitted from new by bmw?

questions i need to fill in are:

full make and model of immobiliser? > erm...Scorpion...?
approx. date of fitment? > date of manufacture? - 1989
name and address and qualifications of fitters? > bmw showroom?

any advise appreciated as i need to send this form off pronto.

cheers!

That's about it. Havw a look at the wires under the rubber boot. If they are all black it may indicate "Thatcham approval". Dfferent colours and it's pre Thatcham, and probably won't earn you any discount.
I would write"OEM fitted", rather than bmw showroom. thouigh.
