Theres a thread with servicing costs here:
http://www.e30zone.co.uk/modules.php?na ... ic&t=27396

You should see 30+mpg out of a 4pot, and most parts aren't too pricey
Can't comment on insurance costs - so variable, but my 318is only costs me £70 a year more than temporary 1.1 escort I had while looking for a replacement e30

Speaking of which if you can then get a 318is over a 316/318i
It'll be quicker, and they're great handling - one of the most fun to drive e30s going

Ive had my 318i for just over a year now and its been very cheep to buy/run, i get my parts from GSF and some from my main dealer, its very easy to do an oil and plugs change your self so saving £Â£Ã‚£Ã‚£ on labour, oh and dont forget the breakers yard it seems like most things are about a £5-£10.
My insurance was £170 fully comp with full NCB.
good luck if you get one, thers lots of help to be had here if you need it.

I reckon my iS is easier on fuel than my 318i, and a lot, lot faster.
Fuel consumption of the 318i isn't that much better than my 325i, because it always needs to be driven hard.

No way!

On a motorway I get between 30 and 50 mpg depending on how I drive

When thrashing the 318is I get mid 20's usually

I never got more than mid 20's out of my 325i apart from when on an economy run on the motorway then it could get in the 30's

Bloody 'ell Lordschleife, I got 40mpg out of my 320i on the motorway and that is supposedly worse than the 325i!

Mind you, was getting an average of about 12mpg on the 'ring

I'd suggest the 318 is too..

Fuel costs are excellent, servicing the same as a 316i/318i and you get loads of the kit you'll only want o buy anyway, such as sports seats/suspension/brakes. The insurance will be a bit more but its more than worth the extra.

Otherwise mine has been a very reasonable car to run. ECP and GSF really helping out in that respect, along with a great supply of second hand parts - The E30Zone.

Only my Golf MK2 16v (2 litre by the time I'd finished with it) was cheaper but the insurance is high for most people.

Going for a cheaper car is often a false economy. You'll end up buying bits and bobs for it in the long run, stretch yourself a little and go for a nicer one. You'll thank yourself in the long run.

318/316's are not much better than 325's in all honesty!

318iS is the economy daddy of all e30's including the diesels they made.
Only prob is the engines! they are good when they are running and are expensive to fix when they go wrong! there's only around 800 left on UK roads and 799 of them are f**ked so tread very carefully when viewing them

M20 old skool slugger is king!

Malco u shouldn't of edited that post wimp!

Where did you get those figures from Si???

I'm sure my 318iS is not the only non-F**ked one out there! mind you i think JonB & pacerpete have broken up most of the others!

My iS gives between 30 - 42 mpg depending on conditions!
